Topic Recommendation System on Elektroda Forum

In compliance with Article 27 of the Digital Services Act (DSA), we provide the following details on how our topic recommendation system operates.

Main Parameters

  • Your activity - threads you have read or actively participated in (by posting replies);
  • Content relevance - we analyze topic content to find discussions that match your interests;
  • Freshness - we prioritize newer topics (e.g., from the last few weeks);
  • Exclusions - we filter out topics you have already read or participated in, as well as those from restricted sections.

Why Do You See These Recommendations?

These recommendations appear because our system has identified topics similar to those you engage with. User activity is the primary factor, with active participation in discussions being the strongest indicator of interest. Our goal is to help you discover valuable discussions that align with your interests.

Fallback Mechanism

If there is insufficient data about your activity (e.g., when you are a new user) or if activity-based recommendations are disabled, the system displays popular topics with the highest number of views.

Transparency and Control

If you do not wish to receive activity-based recommendations, you can disable them in your profile settings, in the "Enable recommendations based on my activity" section.

Recommendations update automatically based on your ongoing forum activity. The system relies solely on your interactions within the Elektroda platform and does not use external data sources.

Once you view a suggested topic, it is automatically removed from future recommendations and replaced with another relevant suggestion.

We do not currently offer alternative recommendation algorithms.

Privacy

Our recommendation system analyzes only your direct forum activity, such as read topics and posted replies. This data is processed locally on our servers and is never shared with third parties. Recommendations are personalized for each user.

You can request deletion of this data by contacting us via: Contact form.
