In one of the home extension cords there are sparks or something when plugging / unplugging the cable. So clear. This is normal? Is there a risk of electric shock when connecting devices there? Whenever I have to do something there, I'm shaking and I'm scared. Today I had to disconnect and reconnect the set-top box. It was sparkling in there or something. I have read several topics on this issue, but opinions are divided. Do I need to dump it or not to worry? In fact, I have never been kicked by the current there, but you know it.

No, don't worry. You just have a microcosm and when you put in / pull out the plug, you cause a storm ...
Are you seriously asking? Something is sparking for you in a place where it definitely shouldn't be sparking, and you are still asking what is right? Where are these opinions divided? List these threads. Maybe you could even take a peek there?

So wait for your first time.

    I hate first times.
Well, seriously, disconnecting and switching on the devices consuming the current at that time always caused more or less sparking.
Much depended on the current consumption of the device, inertia (high power transformers) and finally on the transparency of the plastic from which the extension cord is made and how dark it is in the place where it is connected.
And the best thing is to undress it and see what is happening in it, if everything is in its place, don't worry about sparking.

However, I would not recommend undressing.

Sparking is normal when switching on receivers, especially those with high powers. The same thing happens when switching off.

Therefore, inserting the plug into the socket should be carried out with a quick and efficient movement, but when removing it, be careful not to tear the socket out of the wall. The point is that the sparking should last as short as possible.

But if it sparks during normal operation, the socket or strip must be repaired or replaced.

I have a laptop power supply, which usually gives a spark when the plug is inserted into the socket. Probably charging a capacitor in the power supply. And here the sparking is related to a specific extension cord or hardware? The same equipment with a different extension cord also gives sparking or not?

In which there is a switching power supply, and therefore, when connecting the power supply, the capacitor MUST charge first - hence the spark will appear. This is by no means dangerous for the equipment, and for you - as long as you don't have wet hands and you don't grab the plug by the pins - neither.
