With such a move, in my opinion, it does not matter what you bet on. Take a VPS. For PLN 4 / month it's not worth having fun.

When you have a moment and want to, you can transfer it to RPI Java, Pythony and MySQL / PostgreSQL relatively painlessly. You can move around piece by piece and see if and when the RPI can't handle any more.

Topic summary

The discussion centers around a cost and performance comparison between a VPS server offered by Aruba Cloud for 4 PLN/month with Debian and a self-hosted VPS on a Raspberry Pi 2B. The user is considering the Raspberry Pi option primarily for cost savings, as it incurs only electricity costs and offers unlimited transfer. However, concerns about upload speeds, fixed IP addresses, and potential power failures are raised. The user plans to use the server for various applications, including a WordPress blog, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, and a mail server. Responses suggest that while the Raspberry Pi offers greater privacy and flexibility, the Aruba Cloud VPS may be more reliable for consistent performance. The user has opted for the Aruba Cloud VPS but is also interested in using the Raspberry Pi as a mirror server for experimentation.
