Choosing 40 Inch TV for 3x6 Room, 2 People, Full HD, Smart, Good Sound, Samsung LE32S81BX / XEC

Best answers

Which 40-inch Full HD smart TV should I buy for a 3x6 m room, viewed from about 2 meters, with UPC cable and decent sound?

The safest recommendation from the thread is the Samsung UE40K5672, or the UE40K5600 since they are the same base model with the same matrix and software [#16682136] [#16684201] It was described as a good Full HD VA TV with good contrast and good blacks, and the K series is 2016 while the M series is 2017 [#16682136] If you want alternatives, the thread also mentions the Samsung UE40J6240 as theoretically the best option, with the UE40K5572SU as the second choice and definitely 60 Hz [#16673475] For Samsung’s 2017 M lineup, the 40-inch M55xx was already withdrawn, while the 40-inch M50 was sold as the UE40M5000, and you were advised to check the exact Smart TV platform because small budget models may not always have full smart features [#16672906] The MU61xx was considered okay (VA, 60 Hz, HLG), but another opinion was that for a 40-inch set at about 2.2 m it is not worth overpaying [#16675396] [#16675464] [#16675510] [#16675579]

I see that Samsung has withdrawn the 40 inch model from the M55 series and only 43 inch is available.

However, the M50 series is 40 inches, i.e. SAMSUNG UE40M5000
See also the interesting SONY KDL-40WE665 or SAMSUNG UE40KU6400.

Always check what type of smart is on the TV, because in these small, budget models it is sometimes not.

Theoretically the best Samsung UE40J6240 - although I do not know if it also has 120Hz matrices like the bigger brother, i.e. 60J6240.
In the second order, Samsung UE40K5572SU (here is definitely 60Hz)

Comparing both models in the latter Samsung UE40K5572SU is better Samsung Tizen 2016 in the former is 2015 and this will probably speak in favor of buying the Samsung UE40K5572SU. Unless I missed something important, please tell me.

I was just in one of the TV stores and the seller clearly advised me not to MU61 xx because it will not be used on 40 inches and said that it is a pity to overpay

It all depends on how close you sit to the TV :)
Well, but if you were to pay a lot, it actually doesn't make sense.

Good FHD model for VA, good contrast, good black.
K is the 2016 series, M is the 2017 series.

This is the same. The base, i.e. the matrix and the software, are the same.
They may differ in terms of the sales channel, housing color, number of connectors, etc.

Why it matters: This FAQ helps shoppers pick a 40-inch, Full HD/Smart TV with good sound for small rooms and evening viewing.

Quick Facts

What’s the best 40-inch Samsung pick here?

Samsung UE40K5672 stands out as a good Full HD VA option with strong contrast and black levels. “Good FHD model for VA, good contrast, good black.” [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16682136]

Are Samsung UE40K5600 and UE40K5672 actually different?

They share the same panel and software base. Differences are mainly sales channel, color, or connector count. “This is the same.” [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16684201]

Is the MU6102 (MU61xx) worth considering at 40 inches?

Yes, MU61xx is noted as “pretty ok,” with VA, 60Hz, and HLG support. Choose it if pricing is close to FHD models. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16675396]

Will I notice UHD benefits at 2.2 m on a 40-inch screen?

Value depends on distance and price. “It all depends on how close you sit,” and overpaying makes little sense if you sit farther. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16675510]

How many hours of daily use are planned, and is that okay?

Planned use is 6–8 hours daily with long single-program sessions. Choose a model comfortable for extended viewing. [Elektroda, kuczka76, post #16671900]

What devices and connectivity should I plan for?

The setup includes UPC cable, laptop, and smartphone, plus Wi‑Fi Smart apps like YouTube. Ensure enough HDMI and Wi‑Fi. [Elektroda, kuczka76, post #16671900]

Is a 40-inch screen safe for a 93 cm wall space?

Yes if the set’s width fits under 93 cm. Confirm exact dimensions on the product page before buying. [Elektroda, kuczka76, post #16671900]

How do I decide between UE40K5600 and UE40K5672 quickly?

Use this 3-step check:
  1. Compare HDMI/USB counts for your gear.
  2. Pick your preferred bezel color/stand finish.
  3. Buy the better-priced, in-stock unit. Both share the same core hardware. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16684201]

Why did a salesperson say MU61xx isn’t worth it at 40 inches?

At 40 inches, UHD gains shrink with distance. If the price jump is large, it’s not cost-effective. “It doesn’t make sense.” [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16675510]

Any edge cases I should watch for when shopping online?

Some 40-inch listings hide that a model lacks Smart OS. Verify “Smart TV/Tizen” and Wi‑Fi before purchase to avoid returns. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16672906]
