    Hello,

I am looking for a 55-60 inch TV.
I had a Samsung TV before and I would like to stay with this brand (wont).

    1. How big is the room in which the TV is to be located? 26m
    2. How far are we from the TV screen? 3-4m
    3. How many people sit in front of the TV? 1-4
    4. Are we sitting in front of the screen or also sideways to the screen? directly
    5. Should the TV stand or should it hang? stand but with the option to hang
    6. How does the sun shine in the room? on the right and front of the TV
    7. What kind of TV do you currently have? -
    8. What do we want the TV to have? SmartTV is the basis!
    9. What signal will be connected to the TV? DVB-T and the plans of Cyfrowy polsat
    10. What devices? Soundbar other?
    11. How many hours a day is the TV set to work? 2-4
    12. Does it happen that you watch only one program for several hours? Yes
    13. What kind of programs do you watch the most? Movies, TV series, youtube
    14. Are you going to surf the internet? Sure
    15. Are you going to play games - if so, how many% a day? no
    16. Brand Preference? SAMSUNG
    17. Size preferences? 55-60 inches
    18. What annoys you in TV sets? Slowness, difficulty entering text, quick termination of supporting the model with updates by the manufacturer
    19. Do you watch more in the evenings or during the day? evenings
    20. To what maximum amount do you plan to purchase? 3000 PLN GROSS
    21. How often do you replace televisions at home? Very rarely
    22. Do you use internet applications often? sometimes - most often YT, open FM, etc.

The earlier TV I had was: UE50H6200 LED 3D 200HZ TV and I was SO HAPPY with it, I wasn't using 3D. Unfortunately, I don't have a TV anymore (no matter why) but I was happy with the purchase and the TV still works.

I am thinking about the models:
    UE55MU6172 - 55 inches, nice resolution, 4K? (I don't know what it's but cool) price: PLN 2,800 - my challenger

    UE55K6370 - 55 inch, curved, Price: PLN 2,999

    UE60J6240 - 60 inches !!!!!! PLN 3100

UE55MU6102 - 55 inches of madness probably does not have Price: PLN 2700

Alternatively, I am asking you for other models, if you think that for this amount I will buy a lot better from another company - please give me - I will consider everything. But what interests me the most: UE55MU6172 vs UE55K6370.

    ----------- I also want to buy a SOUNDBAR up to PLN 500 - I chose: Samsung HW-J355
and here is also a question. Will I find something better up to PLN 500? (with Bluetooth) -----------

    Regards and please help.
    Thanks

The UE55MU6172 is ok - it's a good budget model on a VA and 60Hz matrix. The cheapest 4K from Samsung from the 2017 series.
    .
The UE60J6240, on the other hand, is the budget king of 2016 (well, maybe Panasonic 50DS630e was better) - matrix 120Hz, VA but FHD, so mainly for DVB-T or digital platforms.
The downside is the lack of an extended color palette or HDR. And quite an old version of Tizen.

And what do you think about the curved:
    UE55K6370?

Cause I'm hesitating between the 4k and the curved one.

I don't know this model. It's hard for any meaningful tests, the 2016 model.

And in your opinion - if you had to choose - would you choose curved or 4k?
    Yes for myself.

Unless you recommend another one up to PLN 3,000

Well, the UE55MU6172 is a sensible option for a small amount of money.

    Hey Ludwik,

I watched this 6172 and next to it there was UE55MU6402 - spooora difference (at the box office about PLN 500).
I think the 6402 would be a better option - what do you think?

It's a PLS (IPS) matrix - it's not worth it.

MU6172 exists with both PLS and VA.
Each copy must be checked. Such a Samsung charm.

Ludwik - I'm sorry for being tormented, but answer me another question ...

The best choice up to PLN 2,000: https://www.euro.com.pl/telewizory-led-lcd-plazmowe/lg-55lh630v.bhtml

the best choice up to PLN 3,000 is the samsung MU6172?

The best choice for ... 3500 PLN (the price may vary from 100-200 PLN more) - I am asking you for suggestions because I write a lot about this Philips: Philips 55PUS6561

And now the summary - do you think there is a large gap between this LG and Samsung and ... this up to PLN 3,500 (philips or Samsung UE55MU6472)

Please advise you because it's hard for me to decide :(

55 inches to PLN 2,000 there is no option for a good TV.

Up to 3 thousand PLN 55 inches is MU6172 or M5672

Up to PLN 3.5 thousand - 50 inches Panasonic EX700

FAQ

TL;DR: For a 26 m² room at 3–4 m, weigh 120 Hz FHD versus 60 Hz 4K; as one expert says, “The UE55MU6172 is a sensible option for a small amount of money.” [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16739558]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps shoppers choose between Samsung midrange sets and features (4K, 120 Hz, VA/PLS, curved) within a PLN 2,000–3,500 budget, fast.

Quick Facts

Which is better for movies at 3–4 m: UE55MU6172 or UE55K6370?

Pick UE55MU6172 if you want a known, budget 4K performer with solid SmartTV. The expert called it “a sensible option for a small amount of money.” Curved K6370 had no meaningful tests cited, so risk is higher. Prioritize panel quality and motion over curve. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16739370]

Does the Samsung UE55MU6172 use VA or IPS/PLS?

Both exist. Some MU6172 units ship with VA, others with PLS (IPS-like). You must verify the exact sample before buying. This “Samsung charm” means panel characteristics can vary by batch or size. Bring up a dark scene and check contrast and glow to confirm. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16746886]

Is the UE55MU6402 worth about PLN 500 more than MU6172?

No. UE55MU6402 uses a PLS (IPS) panel, which the expert advised against in this lineup. If you sit head-on and value contrast, prefer VA variants of MU6172 instead. “It’s a PLS (IPS) matrix – it’s not worth it.” [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16746567]

Is 120 Hz FHD (UE60J6240) better than 60 Hz 4K (MU6172) for DVB-T?

For broadcast TV, the UE60J6240’s 120 Hz VA can deliver smoother motion. It is FHD and lacks HDR and wide color, but suits DVB-T and digital platforms well. If you prioritize 4K apps, MU6172 still wins on resolution and apps. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16738895]

Any solid 55-inch TV under PLN 2,000?

No. The expert stated there’s no good 55-inch option below PLN 2,000. Plan for about PLN 3,000 for competent performance and smart features. Set expectations accordingly to avoid false economies. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16750147]

What should I buy at PLN 3,000 and at PLN 3,500?

Around PLN 3,000, pick Samsung MU6172 or M5672 for balanced 4K and SmartTV. Around PLN 3,500, consider Panasonic EX700 in 50 inches if you can accept the size change. These hit the value sweet spot in this thread. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16750147]

What about the curved Samsung UE55K6370—choose curve or 4K flat?

Curve adds style but little performance at this budget. The advisor didn’t know the K6370 and noted the lack of meaningful tests. Choose a vetted 4K flat model like MU6172 to reduce risk. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16738933]

How modern is the Smart TV (Tizen) on these sets?

UE60J6240 was flagged for an “old version of Tizen,” while MU6172 belongs to the newer 2017 series. If app support and speed matter, prefer MU6172 over older 2016 FHD models. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16738895]

What is DVB-T, and does FHD still make sense for it?

DVB-T is digital terrestrial TV. The 120 Hz FHD UE60J6240 was recommended mainly for DVB-T and digital platforms. It trades 4K and HDR for smoother motion and simplicity. Choose based on your content mix. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16738895]

Does HDR or wide color matter on these picks?

UE60J6240 lacks HDR and extended color. MU6172 is entry-level 4K and won’t deliver premium HDR either, but it supports modern apps. If HDR is crucial, budget higher than these models. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16738895]

Is the 50-inch MU6172 definitely VA?

A forum user confirmed their 50-inch MU6172 uses a VA panel, and the size is commonly listed as VA. Still verify your unit in-store to be safe. “My copy is a VA for sure.” [Elektroda, Silu00, post #16749711]

How do I check if an MU6172 in-store is VA or PLS? (3 steps)

  1. Load a dark scene and view head-on; VA shows deeper blacks.
  2. Move 30–40° off-axis; PLS loses less contrast than VA.
  3. Ask staff for model sub-code or panel sheet to confirm batch. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16746886]

Is MU6172 really the cheapest Samsung 4K of 2017?

Yes. The advisor called UE55MU6172 “the cheapest 4K from Samsung from the 2017 series,” built on a 60 Hz panel. It’s a value-first set for streaming and everyday use. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16738895]

Any guidance on a Bluetooth soundbar under PLN 500 (e.g., Samsung HW-J355)?

The thread only flags a PLN 500 budget and Bluetooth need and mentions Samsung HW-J355. No definitive pick was given. Match your TV’s optical/ARC output and confirm Bluetooth codec support. [Elektroda, AlienWarez, post #16738796]

Will I notice a big jump going from LG 55LH630V to MU6172 or to ~PLN 3,500 picks?

The advisor split tiers: no good 55-inch under PLN 2,000; around PLN 3,000 choose MU6172/M5672; around PLN 3,500 consider Panasonic EX700 (50”). Expect clear gains moving up tiers. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #16750147]
