Hello, I choose a budget phone for a person who does not play games and uses the phone mainly for communication, social media, photos, YouTube, internet. Currently, this person uses a phone with 1 core parameters, 512 MB of RAM can be imagined how it works.

    Budget PLN 500

I chose XIAOMI REDMI 4A PLN 483 with shipping. Version 2 GB ram / 32 GB

The change for this person in terms of performance will be huge anyway. Changing the phone for at least 2 years will not take place.

But I'm wondering whether to recommend this person:
XIAOMI REDMI 4X PLN 564 with delivery. Version 2 GB ram / 32 GB

The price difference of 81 PLN is quite a lot when buying a budget, but an 8-core processor.

Considering the fact that this is a purchase for several years, I wonder if it is worth taking this better version but on the other hand is it worth it if this person does not need such performance? Will the phone start to lull under the influence of the update? Will this difference in processor have a significant impact on menu navigation performance?

Rather not, it depends mainly on the management of RAM, I would take 4X.
The difference is not only in the processor, e.g. a larger battery.

Thanks, I've compared myself to a cellphone. Crap, but somehow I am not convinced by this phone, somehow I prefer something from Samsung.

Well, if you're looking for a good mobile network offer and want to compare several phone models, it's worth it.
But I prefer to pick up the phone and watch it. And only then order online.

Well, there is nothing like feeling good about your phone. :P But just as a preliminary understanding of what exactly sits in this phone, etc., these are not even stupid comparison websites. ;)

Sure not. Because now phones are not only looks but also functionality. So it's worth comparing one model with the other to even know which one has a better battery.

Battery, more RAM, how much memory for the user - I usually pay attention to this. Later there is a camera, a fingerprint reader (if the phone is not in the back then is it at all).

And when it comes to the battery, maybe you know from what value to buy? And what models have better batteries?

For me, the total minimum battery size is 3500, because I use a lot. Well, but the capacity of the battery also depends on the size of the phone screen and the rest of its "gutters". ;)

Probably not. You shouldn't make a dozen% difference but ...

IMHO for the battery itself is worth taking a better model for so much time you are buying. Almost 1000 mAh is not a stick blew. In addition, for these additional 80 PLN - in addition to the battery - you get a dozen% efficiency, a fingerprint reader and in my opinion better quality. In Redmi 4A, the housing is painted plastic (painted ... not colored. It will probably wipe)

And everything is already clear. I will take your advice and try to choose something. With such data that I have for sure, comparing several models will be much easier. Thanks!

FAQ

TL;DR: Redmi 4X offers a bigger battery (+~1000 mAh) and extras for about 80 PLN more; “for the battery itself is worth taking a better model.” [Elektroda, cxzcxz123, post #16840592]

Why it matters:** You want smooth messaging, socials, photos, and YouTube on a tight budget without daily charging headaches.

Quick-Facts:

Quick Facts

Will an octa‑core CPU make menus feel faster than the 4A?

Not much. Smoothness depends more on RAM management than raw CPU cores. “I would take 4X,” but not for menus alone. [Elektroda, leonov, post #16822039]

Which has better battery life: Redmi 4A or 4X?

Redmi 4X. Forum users report the 4X adds about 1000 mAh, which directly helps screen‑on time and standby. [Elektroda, cxzcxz123, post #16840592]

What battery capacity should I aim for if I use my phone a lot?

Target at least 3500 mAh. Heavy users called that their personal minimum for all‑day reliability. [Elektroda, fallenang, post #16840420]

Will updates make these phones lag over time?

Lag links more to RAM handling than CPU count. Keep storage free and manage apps to maintain responsiveness. [Elektroda, leonov, post #16822039]

How long can a 2 GB/32 GB budget phone stay usable?

The buyer planned to keep it at least two years. Light use focuses on communication and media, which fits. [Elektroda, przemo6996, post #16821985]

Is Redmi 4A/4X good if I don’t play games?

Yes. The upgrade from a 512 MB/1‑core phone is huge for messaging, socials, photos, YouTube, and browsing. [Elektroda, przemo6996, post #16821985]

Where can I quickly compare full specs of 4A vs 4X?

Use the shared online comparison link recommended in the thread to view side‑by‑side details. [Elektroda, leonov, post #16824887]

How much faster is 4X than 4A for everyday tasks?

Expect a modest bump (described as a “dozen%” efficiency gain), plus better battery and features. [Elektroda, cxzcxz123, post #16840592]

Are spec‑comparison sites actually useful before buying?

Yes. They help you understand what’s inside; then handle the phone in‑store to confirm feel. [Elektroda, fallenang, post #16836356]

Can I check phones in store and still order online later?

That’s a practical approach: handle the device first, then place the final order online. [Elektroda, Kejti92, post #16830212]

How should I choose between Redmi 4A and 4X quickly?

  1. Set your battery target (e.g., ≥3500 mAh if heavy user).
  2. Decide if you want a fingerprint reader.
  3. If yes to both, pick 4X; otherwise, 4A saves ~80 PLN. [Elektroda, fallenang, post #16840420]

What matters more for smoothness: CPU cores or RAM management?

RAM management matters more for day‑to‑day fluidity than core count during basic navigation. [Elektroda, leonov, post #16822039]
