Seeking New Android Smartphone with High-Quality Camera, 16GB Memory, 3GB RAM Under PLN 1600

Jaki nowy smartfon z Androidem, ekranem do 5,5 cala, minimum 16 GB pamięci i 3 GB RAM wybrać do zdjęć, zwłaszcza w słabym świetle, w budżecie do 1600 zł?

    Hello,
I am looking for a phone for my other half, the best phone is the priority. The parameters below:

    1. Only new
    2. Currently LG H420, wanted - only large brands (no weird inventions)
    3. Construction: touch
    4. Operating system: Android 7.0 or above (in exceptional cases 6.0)
    5. The keyboard should be: touchscreen.
    6. Display size: up to 5.5 "
    7. What you will mainly need a phone for: lots of photos, internet, facebook, sms etc.
    8. What functions do I care about the most: the best camera (including in low light)
    9. What functions are completely unnecessary or less important for me: fingerprint reader, etc.
    10. Conditions / places where the telephone will be mainly used: no weird ...
    11. Established budget: up to PLN 1000 and up to PLN 1600
    12. Other requirements, memory min. 16GB (preferably> = 32GB), RAM min 3GB, quite resistant to falls (small children at home, theoretically, are prohibited from touching, but unfortunately it is different).

Below are the lists from the initial selections (color does not matter).
    Up to PLN 1,000:
    HTC U Play 32GB black
    HTC U11 life black
Huawei P10 Lite Dual SIM white
Huawei P9 Lite 2017 Dual SIM white
    LG Q6 Black
    Motorola Moto G5 3 / 16GB Dual SIM gray
Motorola Moto G5 Plus 3 / 32GB Dual SIM gray
    Motorola Moto G5S 3 / 32GB Dual SIM gray
Samsung Galaxy J7 2017 J730F Dual SIM LTE black
Sony Xperia XA1 G3112 Dual SIM white
    Sony Xperia XA1 LTE white
    Xiaomi Mi A1 32GB Gold
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Prime 32GB Dual SIM LTE Gray

    Up to PLN 1600:
ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro ZD552KL Dual SIM black
    ASUS ZenFone 4 ZE554KL 4 / 64GB Dual SIM white
Honor 8 LTE Dual SIM Active black
    Huawei P9 Plus black
Motorola Moto G5S Plus 3 / 32GB Dual SIM gray
    Motorola Moto X4 3 / 32GB Dual SIM black
Motorola Moto Z2 Play 4 / 64GB Dual SIM gray
Samsung Galaxy A5 A520F 2017 LTE Black Sky
    Samsung Galaxy S7 G930F 32GB black
Sony Xperia XA1 Plus G3412 Dual SIM black
Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra G3212 Dual SIM LTE white
Sony Xperia XA2 H4113 Dual SIM black
Sony Xperia XZ F8331 Forest Blue

With a budget of up to PLN 1000, the favorites are probably Samsung Galaxy J7 2017 J730F and Huawei P10 Lite.
With a budget of up to PLN 1600, Samsung Galaxy S7 G930F seems to be the favorite, followed by the Samsung Galaxy A5 A520F second.
Earlier I would stick very much to Sony, but during tests I often complain about poor optics (e.g. compared to Samsung).
The basic question is whether it is worth giving more? if so, is it worth taking S7 with Android 6.0 (the phone is to be used for at least 2 years).
Maybe some other suggestions, comments / observations / problems / manufacturing defects welcome (so as to know what to exclude 100%).
Maybe the users of one of the above devices can say something about the phone and the camera itself.

Thanks in advance for your help.

A good camera is in Huawei P9 (without lite). These are 2 sensors from Sony. I think that when it comes to photos at night, it will be difficult to find competition, in close Makro it may slightly distort, but despite this it takes quite good photos even up close.
This Asus also looks interesting, but I will not say anything about it.
Personally, I wouldn't buy Samsung phones, but that's my opinion. Maybe what I heard about the entire department of planned aging of products is at every manufacturer. Motorolle I would also reject because it is a product from Foxconn (the producer of most Chinese phones of many brands (Gooclever, Manta, Kruger Matz, Myphone etc.) and apple).
Sony actually had some problems with optics and software in the past, I'm not aware of it now, but it's still a large matrix manufacturer.
LG also had cool cameras, especially in the speed of taking pictures.

If the camera is supposed to be the best, S7 probably wins, but I would not buy this phone myself. As for android, you can always upload unofficial soft with the latest android.
S7 came out with 2 different matrices and it is not known which matrix it will go with.

Maybe it's not quite about photos at night, but for example in a room with low light, or on a very cloudy day, etc.
A virtually unnecessary macro, mainly for portrait photos, kids, etc ...

It falls off, in case of problems with unofficial soft you don't want to deal with the phone (a phone for a woman who will not do anything in case of 'in').

Android 7 has long been in this model and in the near future will also be official 8.
The camera takes amazing photos both day and night and leaves the competition far behind. The battery holds well and when you need to charge it, fast charging is instant.

Check f "lens". The average numbers are around 2.2. Reasonable 2.0. Pastures below 2.0. The cool thing is image stabilization. Don't get excited by megapixels. Pay attention to power management, the battery draining camera is a mistake ...

I have been using galaxy s7 (android 7.0) for a year and when it comes to photos it is not bad, I was counting on more (there are 2 types of cameras in S7 I have sony, theoretically the worse). After all, the pros are well beyond the battery, but fast charging somewhat compensates for fast discharging. The rest really flawless waterproof very handy mega fast (sometimes it cuts like everything that has an android) waiting for android 8 because I just like the icons more :) .

I visited a home electronics / electronics store today and looked at a few phones ...
From the list up to PLN 1,000
Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) disappointed me a lot, it was difficult to take a blurry photo - it looked like it had some trouble with sharpness, only in 4-5 the picture was satisfactory.
In this amount, the definite leader (when it comes to the camera) is Motorola Moto G5 Plus, Huawei P10 Lite (and Mate 10 Lite which is not on the list) did quite well.

From the list up to 1600 PLN
Unfortunately I could not test Sony XA1 / XA2 or Galaxy A5 (none worked).
Motorola Moto G5S Plus is worse (subjective) than G5 Plus.
At the end I left my current leader, i.e. Samsung Galaxy S7 and ... I was disappointed.
    siudziu wrote:

I agree 100% ... I checked this phone last, I was counting on "ŁAAAŁ" and it was only "łeee". As for me, the G5 Plus came out very comparable, and if we take the price for it, it's definitely not worth taking Samsung.

At the moment, none of the phones from the more expensive list are delighted, they will still try to test Sony, but if there are no effects, the choice will be Motorola Moto G5 Plus or Huawei P10 Lite.

The S7 has the same camera as the S8, in my opinion the photos are great for a phone. Motorola is far behind, but if you have such feelings, take a hank will be cheaper and better.

I hope you did the tests with the future owner? Such tests for the second person are just like measuring underwear. :)
I am asking because it may seem good to you, the other person will describe as average.

When choosing, it is also worth paying attention to IPS and Amoled displays, the same picture will look different. On IPS, photos can look better than they are.

The disadvantage of IPS is purse black or rather the lack of it and higher energy consumption. I personally like Amoled on the phone, but I don't view photos on the phone, but rather transfer to PC / TV with IPS matrix.

As for the s7 and s8 camera, they may be the same on the ground floor, but you only need to compare photos and you can immediately see which ones are more detailed.

It just so happens that I use S7 and wife S8 and even once tried to compare the same photos and for damn I did not see the difference, apparently you need to have a super-functional eye.

And my tests went ... swinging :)

    1. Windows is dropping out
    2. It is to be new (no circuses with VAT invoice-margin or receipt 0% VAT, the manufacturer's services do not want to repair on this basis)

In all tests on the net, the S7 performs the best here (from my list), I think that bad feelings about the camera in this phone are the result of poor lighting in the store + various matrices.

FAQ

TL;DR: This thread compares 26 models under PLN 1,600; "Don't get excited by megapixels." Favor fast lenses (≤f/2.0) and OIS. Community picks Galaxy S7 for the best camera, but test in-store. [Elektroda, keseszel, post #17170206]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps shoppers who want a new Android with a great low‑light camera, ≥16GB storage, and ≥3GB RAM under PLN 1,000–1,600 make a confident choice.

Quick Facts

What’s the best camera phone under PLN 1,600 from this list?

Community consensus points to the Samsung Galaxy S7. One expert noted, “If the camera is supposed to be the best, S7 probably wins.” The S7 shipped with two different sensors, so sample variation exists. Test before you buy if possible. [Elektroda, E8600, post #17170022]

Is the Galaxy S7 still worth it if it launched with Android 6.0?

Yes. Users report the S7 already runs Android 7 and was slated for official Android 8. They praise its camera day and night, plus rapid charging to offset battery drain. That mix keeps it relevant within the PLN 1,600 cap. [Elektroda, tino2003, post #17170195]

How does Moto G5 Plus compare to S7 and J7 2017 in real use?

In-store, Moto G5 Plus produced strong photos and felt comparable to S7 under that lighting. J7 2017 struggled with sharpness, sometimes needing 4–5 tries for a satisfactory shot. Always replicate your conditions when testing. [Elektroda, pawel-jwe, post #17178300]

Which sub‑PLN 1,000 phones had the best cameras in the thread’s tests?

Moto G5 Plus led the budget group. Huawei P10 Lite and Mate 10 Lite performed respectably. Samsung J7 2017 disappointed due to focus and sharpness issues in-store. Prioritize hands-on trials for confirmation. [Elektroda, pawel-jwe, post #17178300]

Do megapixels matter for low‑light photos, or should I focus on aperture and OIS?

Aperture and stabilization matter more than pixel count in dim scenes. Aim for f/≤2.0 and optical stabilization. As one expert put it, “Don’t get excited by megapixels.” This aligns with real-world low-light priorities. [Elektroda, keseszel, post #17170206]

Will AMOLED vs IPS screens mislead me when judging photos in-store?

Yes, displays can skew perception. The same photo can look different on AMOLED vs IPS. IPS often shows weaker blacks and may consume more power, while photos can appear better than they are. Compare on consistent screens later. [Elektroda, E8600, post #17178664]

Should I avoid Samsung or Motorola due to brand concerns mentioned?

One contributor recommended Huawei P9 for its camera, expressed distrust of Samsung, and rejected Motorola due to Foxconn ancestry. They also noted Sony’s past camera issues and LG’s quick shooters. Treat these as personal views. [Elektroda, pawel1148, post #17170018]

Is Huawei P9 (non‑Lite) a strong pick for low light and macro?

A user highlighted Huawei P9’s dual Sony sensors and strong low-light performance. They noted slight macro distortion, yet overall close-ups were still good. If low light matters most, P9 deserves a look. [Elektroda, pawel1148, post #17170018]

Are Galaxy S7 and S8 cameras the same in output?

One owner reported the S8 delivered more detailed photos than the S7, despite similar headline specs. Perceived differences can depend on scene, processing, and display. Compare samples side by side. [Elektroda, siudziu, post #17178817]

Should I flash unofficial Android to keep the phone updated?

Avoid this path for nontechnical users. The buyer here explicitly rejected unofficial ROMs, as troubleshooting can be burdensome. Stick with official updates to keep the experience reliable. [Elektroda, pawel-jwe, post #17170139]

Can I choose which Galaxy S7 camera sensor (matrix) I’ll get?

No, retail units came with two different sensors, and you cannot predict which you’ll receive. Sample variation may influence results. Test the exact device when possible. [Elektroda, E8600, post #17170022]

Is there a “Galaxy S7 2017” model?

No. The S7 is SM‑G930F in this context. The “2017” tag belongs to models like the A5 2017 or J7 2017, which caused the confusion. [Elektroda, siudziu, post #17178318]

Why might an S7 feel underwhelming in a store demo?

The OP suspected harsh store lighting and the S7’s sensor variance impacted first impressions. They still saw S7 at the top in online camera tests for this list. Always validate with your lighting. [Elektroda, pawel-jwe, post #17179072]

What about Windows phones like Lumia 950 for camera-first buyers?

Despite strong cameras, Windows phones were excluded here. The buyer requires Android and a new, officially warranted unit, not older or margin-invoiced stock. That rules out Lumia 950. [Elektroda, pawel-jwe, post #17179072]

How do I run a quick in‑store camera test that reflects real use?

Try this: 1) Shoot indoors under mixed light without beautify or HDR. 2) Compare the same samples on both AMOLED and IPS screens later. 3) Test focus speed on moving subjects and faces. Bring the future owner to judge results. [Elektroda, E8600, post #17178664]
