How to Inteface a LCD (4bit) to a 8051 microcontroller

Hi
I am attempting to interface a LCD( NewHaven 4*20 LCD display) to an 8051 microcontroller using MC University Silicion Labs toolstick, using 4 bit initialisation.

I have attached the code. The cursor moves on the display but no characters are output to the LCD.
Can anyone help?
