I am currently doing research for an eddy current brake using permanent magnets. This is for a side project I'm working on, and below are some questions I need answers to because I can't really find them anywhere else. Also. the system can be reduced to single permanent magnet moving over the edge of an aluminum beam.
1) As velocity reaches infinity, does drag force from a moving magnet reach a steady state value or does it fall to 0?
2) Can we linearly interpolate drag force produced by a singlet magnet with volume V1 and another with volume V2 assuming they have the same properties (grade, conductivity, etc.)?
3) In your opinion, is it reasonable to for a single 1.5 x 0.5 x 1 Nd42 magnet to be able to produce 50 N of drag force and 200 N of lift force at 100 m/s? This is to validate my FEA results.
Thanks!
