How to Learn EV Charging Standards, Battery Tech, and Industry Trends for Career Transition

Hello,
I am looking at a job that has everything to do with Electric Vehicle charging and EV batteries. I want to get familiar with the electronic, industry standards, and generally everything I can learn about EV vehicles.Right now I have really only worked on embedded medical devices. Some of this knowledge is transferable, but I really want to become an expert on EVs and more specifically EV Charging. I have no idea where to start. I feel like a lot of the books I was initially looking to get are already outdated as the industry is progressing so quickly. Do you guys have any recommendation on what I can do to become an expert as quickly as possible?

Hi Nick,
My wife has a joke that to become an expert in a subject, I just need to set aside some time on a weekend and read a book on the topic. Seriously though, my strategy is to find the best book I can on the topic and at least skim through it, focusing my attention on the important sections or ones that are particularly difficult to understand. I also search for recent articles on the subject to read. During interviews, I say something like, "I've been fascinated by this field and done a lot of reading. My previous experience is relevant because of similar issues I had to understand and incorporate in my designs such as [then list them and explain them.] Although I haven't worked on EVs in my career, I'm excited about the technology confident I can come up to speed quickly." Always start out positive, never with "I've never designed EVs before but..." Then, continue to do the reading and research after you get the job.
