Power Smart Control: Delivering Innovative Solutions for Power Electronics
Madrid, Spain – [28.10.2025] – Power Smart Control (PSC) is empowering innovation in power electronics through cutting-edge design software, rapid prototyping hardware, and engineering services. Founded in 2015 as a spin-off from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, PSC is a Spanish company that brings together over two decades of experience in the field, transferring R&D and education excellence into real-world industrial applications. Today, the company proudly collaborates with more than 500 clients around the world across diverse industries including renewable energies, aerospace, transport, e-mobility, telecommunications, electrification, consumer electronics, research centres and universities.
PSC’s expertise is structured into three main business lines, offering a comprehensive ecosystem of tools and services for every stage of power electronics development:
1. Software Solutions – PSC’s software suite represents the foundation of its technological innovation.
o SmartCtrl is an advanced tool for power converter control design compatible with commercial simulators, such as PSIM or SIMBA. It allows analog (S-domain) and digital control (directly in Z-domain) for any power converter, including predefined topologies for DC-DC converters (Buck, Boost, Buck Boost, Flyback, Forward, Full-bridge, Dual Active Bridge), and AC-DC (Three-phase PFC rectifiers).
o SmartNetics is a tool for the design of magnetic components. It has a powerful and intuitive user interface that allows engineers to easily assess the impact of every design variable (volume, losses, maximum temperature, cost...). On top of providing the best design, it allows to easily export it to third party FEA simulation tools, such as Ansys Maxwell or Altair Flux.
Both software tools can be purchased directly from the company’s website or through its global network of distributors. Free trial versions are also available, giving engineers worldwide the opportunity to experience PSC’s technology firsthand.
2. Hardware Platforms – PSC also offers dedicated platforms for professionals to validate designs quickly and effectively in a laboratory environment:
o SmartRCP platform (Rapid Control Prototyping) facilitates the real-time validation of power converter control techniques, bridging the gap between theoretical control design and experimental testing. It can be connected to a hardware prototype, a real converter, or even an RTS-HIL emulator for debugging control algorithms before developing and manufacturing the final control board.
o SmartRPP platform (Rapid Power Prototyping) is an easily configurable board, from two half bridges to one full bridge, allowing users to test a variety of topologies (including buck, boost, buck-boost, DAB or resonant converters) up to 20kW and 500kHz with flexibility.
3. Engineering services – At the heart of PSC lies a strong engineering and consulting capability, including the following tailored solutions:
o Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems
o Test benches
o Control boards
o Power converters up to 100kW
o Consulting and specialized training in power electronics
Furthermore, PSC is Siemens-Altair authorized distributor in Spain and Portugal, adding world-renowned simulation software to its portfolio and becoming a trusted partner in the power electronics community at international level.
