    Hello colleagues.
I am not a computer specialist (I think you can already see it after the question). I have internet at home, I connected the router and I have internet via radio, I secured this router according to the instructions, and it's ok. I wanted to see if someone else can break into me, a friend came with his laptop (Toshiba Satellite L30-10W Model NO PSL33L- 03J035PL) and it cannot detect any available networks (there is no this little computer at the bottom), I heard that it may not have a Wi-Fi device, I don't know exactly how to check it. And therefore, I have a question how to check if he has Wi-Fi, and if not, can he somehow get internet without a cable?

Thank you in advance and best regards

Device manager - look for WiFi cards.
Maybe - how to buy a wireless card (if it is actually not in the laptop).

    Hello
To check if it has a wifi card:
    Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager->
tab Network cards and look there if there is an item that has "Wifi" in the name.
If it is, it means it has a network card, but it may be disabled.
To turn it on, you need to turn it on using the button on the laptop casing - look for the button with the antenna on it.
After turning it on, the card should easily start looking for wireless networks.

If there is no physical card in the laptop, you would have to buy a WiFi card for USB (PLN 50 and up) or for PCMCIA (about PLN 70).
    greetings

I don't think there is, but when I look for my laptop, I have this:
    "Network cards
    - Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter
    - Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet
    - Network card1394 "
and for him it is like this:
    "Network cards
    -Realtek RTL8139 / 810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC "
neither for me nor for him nothing is written about Wi Fi and I still have wireless internet, or maybe one of these cards means that it is Wi Fi? Or maybe something needs to be installed? There is a switch with an antenna on the housing and it is on and nothing.

    You have a wireless:
this is this: Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter

He's not visible in the manager - are there any question marks?

Quickly checked on the Internet - it should have a wireless card, if it is missing, it is turned off or there are no drivers.

Well, I can see that they are:

    other devices
    -? Ethernet controller
-? Modem Device on Hight Defintion Audio Bus

    SCSI and RAID controllers
    - AAK52D8W IDE Controller
    -? NERO IMAGEDRVE SCSI Controller

I will try to install a driver, I do not know too much what will come up with something. And something will happen if I reinstall all the drivers?

I think I understand what's going on - there were apparently 3 types of wireless cards installed in these laptops; Intel, Realtek and Atheros I do not know what is yours, but download each one in turn and then update the driver in the device manager and indicate each of the downloaded drivers in turn (of course, unpack the previously downloaded files to disk) - the system will choose the right one, will not install You get another company because it won't fit.

    I bet on Atheros.
