How to configure remote desktop in Windows 7?

Remote desktop configuration in Windows 7 - step by step.

Click successively on: the Start menu > all programs > accessories > select from the list - Remote desktop connection .

A window with the same title is launched. In the lower right corner, click on> plug in . The Remote Desktop Settings Configuration window appears. IN Options we choose the link speed at our disposal and mark what is to be available to others. Remember to select the> option reconnect if connection has been broken .

Default option remote desktop In Windows 7 is turned off. So that other users have access to our desktop we need to activate it.

Click on the Start menu > Control panel > System and security > Allow remote access .

In the window System Properties we mark the options - Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer . In the lower right corner of the same window, click on - Select Users . In the window - Choosing: Users click on advanced in the lower left corner. We do not write anything in the lines onlyclick on - find now - on the right side of the window. At the bottom of the window, the results will be displayed - the group or users that we will allow to connect to our computer. We choose who we want to connect and confirm by clicking OK. In the window Remote Desktop Users the group or user that we have allowed access will appear. We approve by clicking ok and it's ready.

The remote desktop sharing option is only available in Windows versions from Pro.
Other programs can be used instead.

You need to know the accounts on the computer on which you want to connect and you are logging in to them.
By default, you can only have an Administrator account without a password, you must know it yourself because you can define it for the first time during installation.
You can create a new account for yourself, a password must be present and that's where you enter it.

The main problem with Windows Remote Desktop is the inability to log into an active session. Ie. Ania asks you to check what the error is showing up on her. You turn on the remote desktop and have to enter a username and password, which will log Ania out and close her window with an error. This way you sh ... ya see and blondi is furious that she lost her unsaved job.

Decent programs log on to the same account for the active session.

And why in my company where there is XP, the remote desktop works on the principle of not logging out, i.e. you can use the computer and watch someone "move the mouse on the screen" and here in W7 logs out, why ???

    Hello
We have two servers in the company. Can the router be set to access both servers via remote desktop? We already have one set on the standard port 3389. Is it possible to set up remote access on the router in the same way? Only on a different port? E.g. 3390 or 3388? I am asking for a quick answer and explanation of what to do.

Added after 4 [hours] 1 [minutes]:

How do I also know which port I can choose besides 3389?

    Added after 13 [minutes]:

Even though I changed the server to 3388, I can still connect via remote desktop on port 3389 ... weird ...

    Added after 1 [minutes]:

Do I need to reset the server after a port change operation?

The standard remote desktop ports are 3389, 3390, 3391 etc.
If you want to access from the outside, you have to forward the ports with internal IP addresses to the external IP address with external ports, e.g. 13389, 23389 or standard 3389 up.
This is done in the router settings - it depends on what model.

Well, unless you have a DMZ set up for these servers, you just need to change to the other port.

You can configure the ports freely - it depends on what, how and what you want to get in the whole system.

Topic summary

Configuring Remote Desktop on Windows 7 requires enabling the feature through the Control Panel under System and Security. Users must ensure they have a compatible version, as Remote Desktop is only available in Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions. Common issues include the inability to find the option or being logged out of active sessions when connecting remotely. Alternative software like TeamViewer can be used for remote access without logging out the current user. For network configurations, users can set up port forwarding on routers to access multiple servers using different ports, typically starting from 3389.
