    Dear Formen,

I am coming to you with a problem.

I wanted to run on prof10 prof. REMOTE DESKTOP service. Generally, nothing difficult, the desktop started and worked. But the next day (evening) unfortunately, I worked late on this computer (in local services) and had to do something wrong while working on local services, do something. The Remote Desktop service has stopped working. But it stopped working in a strange way. Because when I want to connect to the server on the client computer, a dialog box pops up asking me for a username and password. After entering the username and password I have a connection, but to my eyes appears a blue background with a message in the middle - "Access denied"

Additionally, I can not create a VPN connection. The Routing and Remote Access service does not work and I can not run it. When I try to launch it, I get the message that the service has started and then stopped and that some services automatically stop if they are not being used by other services.

I am asking you for help. If someone knows a way to restart and recall local services to standard settings, please describe how to do it. I will be grateful for the tips.

    greetings
    Mariusz

    Problem solved.

It turned out that the service "Remote pultip service" was marked as a LOCAL service and should be marked as NETWORK SERVICE. This solved the problem with the remote desktop connection. However, I still have a problem with running the VPN server. I go through the next steps until the last step where windows accesses the configuration and suddenly a message appears that VPN connections depend on the Routing and Remote Access service, which I can not run ...

    I am asking for guidance

    greetings
    Mariusz

To run the routing you need to disable the Windows firewall.
I had the same on Win2003.

I have the same problem and disabling the firewall does not help. Routing still does not start.

What happens when you enable routing?
How do you turn it on?

When you try to create a new incoming connection, the system throws a message saying that it can not start the Routing and Remote Access service.
When manually enabled (from services.msc) there is a message that the service has been started and immediately turned off.

Go to the network and sharing center -> "change advanced sharing settings" -> select the type of network you have connected: "home or work" or "public" -> enable "network discovery" and "file and printer sharing". If this does not help, show the "properties" of the network adapter.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around issues with Remote Desktop and Routing and Remote Access services on Windows 10. A user reports receiving an "Access denied" message after logging in via Remote Desktop, following changes made in local services. Attempts to start the Routing and Remote Access service result in it starting and then stopping immediately. Various suggestions are made, including disabling the Windows firewall and adjusting network settings, but these do not resolve the issue. A helpful response indicates that the problem may be a known system issue that Microsoft needs to address in a future update, providing a link to temporary resolution instructions.
