    Hello.
I have a computer that has a Windows key for the Home version in its BIOS.
The entire disk has been formatted, partitions wiped, (there is no recovery partition on it). I set up partitions C for system, D for data myself.

When I throw him a Windows disc for installation, he does not ask for the key during installation, but he downloads the key from the BIOS and installs the Home version.
The problem is that I want to install Windows Professional. How to do it?

You need to purchase the appropriate license.

And change the BIOS settings (UEFI) - for example those for Secure Boot.

Your answer makes me laugh. What do you think I'm underdeveloped, that I don't know that I need a license. I have a license key for the PRO versions.
I put the plate in and he does not ask for the key, but he takes the key from the bios himself. And I would like him to ask and want to give him the key for the PRO versions.

Which version of the system? Win 8.1 Pro (probably previous versions as well) allows you to skip the key input screen.

    Win10 Pro.
I have the original .iso downloaded from the Microsoft website, where on a normal computer without a key in Bios during installation, you can choose between: Win10 Home x64, Win10 Pro x32, Win10 Home x32, Win10 Pro x32.
And during the installation, it always installs the Home version for me because it downloads the key from Bios and there is no system version selection window.

You just change the product key:

Changing the key will not do anything because windows 10 home is installed, and this system will not accept a key from another version.

    Moment.
First, you have to "force" the installed system to skip reading the key from UEFI. Secondly, the key of the base system - Pro - should be used (activated) sometime. Third, Windows 10 must be version 1511.
Only under such conditions is it possible to install Windows 10 "clean" using the key of the base system (here: Pro). If these requirements are not met, the system will either get the key from the BIOS (UEFI) and update as "not Pro", or it will not accept the "Pro" key during installation and cannot be activated with it.

If it were not for the author's reluctance to review similar topics and disclose in the opening post all relevant information related to the "problem" described, then it would not be necessary to assume the topic at all, or - in the worst case - extend the matter beyond one post with the answer.

Have you checked? Because Microsoft claims that this method works ...

Upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro

Upgrade with a Windows 10 Pro product key
Follow these steps to upgrade Windows 10 Home if you have a Windows 10 product key:
    1. Select the Start button Start button icon, and then select Settings> Update & Security> Activation.
    2. Select Change Product Key, then enter your Windows 10 Pro Product Key of 25 characters.
    3. Select Next to start the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

Lord Rome, where did this key come from? Windows 10 Pro version Author or whoever has?

Let me omit this detail, which is the real meaning of what is mentioned in point 3 of the instruction you cite, so as not to be forced to read further "explanations".

After all, the author of the thread clearly wrote (post four): "I have a license key for the PRO version."

The author also wrote a few other things that do not stick together, but rather make you doubt the disclosure of all relevant and related information. Hence, let me maintain the questioning of your solution (it is enough that this Pro is, for example, "student", not to mention a colleague "removed" from an updated computer).
Anyway, it all starts with a visit to the BIOS (UEFI).

    PS
How to force the system to install in the selected version (Pro instead of not Pro) has already been described on the forum (even me, a layman, managed to use the name of one file related directly to such an operation).

Download the latest version of windows 10 build 10586 (MediaCreationTool)

    http://softonet.pl/publikacje/aktualnosci/Jes...6.za.pomoca.programu.Media.Creation.Tool,1470

You install it with a flash drive and choose the Home or Pro system you want.
You choose the Pro and a must get installed favors doesn't.

Downgrading from Ultimate to a lower version is possible after using the trick in the registry described below: (the other way should also work)

    1. Click Start.
    2. Type regedit in the search field and press Enter.
    3. Navigate to this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion
    4. In the right pane, click EditionID and ProductName and give them a value that corresponds to the lower Windows 7 edition. Here is an example:

Windows 7 Home Premium (transition from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 7 Home Premium)
    EditionID: HomePremium
    Product name: Windows 7 HomePremium
    5. Start the installation of Windows 7 by inserting the Windows 7 Disc.
    6. Now select Upgrade as the installation type. Follow the instructions on the screen.
    7. Reactivation of the operating system.

The idea taken from the site www.webtlk.com .

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around upgrading a computer from Windows Home to Windows Professional when the system has a Windows Home key embedded in the BIOS/UEFI. The user has formatted the disk and is unable to input their Windows Pro key during installation, as the installer automatically retrieves the Home key from the BIOS. Responses suggest that to install Windows Pro, the user must either change BIOS settings to prevent the automatic key retrieval or use a specific version of Windows 10 (1511 or later) that allows for a clean installation with a Pro key. Additionally, users are advised to ensure they have the correct Pro license and to follow Microsoft's upgrade instructions through the settings menu.
