    Hello !

    A problem has arisen.
Namely, I wanted to check the door opening with a spare key and by inserting the spare key into the cylinder it was not possible to open the door. I treated the door insert with WD liquid and tried to open it again, but after a stronger treatment, now the insert with the key rotates around and the door still cannot be opened.
Maybe one of the users had a similar case/problem and knows how to solve it?

    Andrzej

P.S. I read that the cause may be a worn key, which is rather unlikely that 2 keys are worn. The keys also go all the way into the insert, and I rely on the fact that the keys can open the fuel filler without any problems and I looked at how deep they go into the fuel filler cap.
They go practically the same deep into the door.

You have a damaged so-called paddle. This is the connector between the handle and the lock.

    Hmmm, is it repairable?
Can I buy such a part?

The insert needs to be replaced, maybe you can make one out of two, and if you replace it, you will have a new key.

I was thinking about replacing the element of the insert that is functional, the so-called paddle/connector, and it would be possible to replace the entire insert.

Because it's doable. It's best to go to a lock specialist and he will translate or adjust your key to the new cylinder.

There is a problem at the dealership, they charged me a minimum of PLN 170 for diagnosis and then they agree on the phone whether we fix it or leave it as it was. The price may even exceed PLN 500, which is a shock!!!

All I have to do is look for someone who can do car keys/locks. I went to one of them and he said that it happens when the door is not used for a long time and when it is opened only with a remote control via the central locking. Is it true, I have no idea?
He said that it was a known fault and that in the future he should open it normally with the key at least once a month. He said it would be no problem to fix it, but unfortunately I had to provide the lock with a key.
I'm not likely to take on the task of removing the door trim and disassembling the lock myself since I've never done it before.

Find a normal workshop in your area. Replacement inserts for this car are available (Valeo). 2 pieces with a key cost PLN 250-300. You won't pay much for replacement either.

There is only one insert on the driver's side in the C3.
This is not a solution because what about the fuel filler? Will I have to have the existing key for the filler cap and a new key for the new insert?
From what I found out, the solution here is to remove the lock and a "specialist" who knows how to do it will make/repair the insert so that it will work with the existing key.

Is it really such a big problem to remove the door trim? A few screws and latches.

And your friend doesn't remember the times when 3 keys for a car were the minimum? :)

What do keys have to do with it?
    Are the keys intact?
I have 2 keys from the new C3, one with a remote control and the other without a remote control, and this is the emergency key.

My friend meant that people used to have one for the door, one for the ignition, and one for the trunk. Either way, dismantling the side panel and dismantling the insert is a very simple operation. The specialist will repair the cylinder for you or another one will match it to the key and that's it.

    Insert repaired;

    1. The cost of dismantling the door trim and the insert is PLN 50, including the installation of the insert and the door trim.

    2. The cost of repairing the insert is PLN 50.

The total cost of this event is PLN 100.

However, it is much less than at the ASO (of course I gave up on this ASO option) where they charged at least PLN 170 for the diagnosis alone!!!

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a problem with the door lock insert of a Citroen C3, where the insert rotates but does not open the door. The user initially attempted to use a spare key and lubricated the lock with WD-40, but the issue persisted. Responses suggest that the problem may be due to a damaged paddle (connector) between the handle and the lock, and that the insert may need to be replaced. A lock specialist can repair or replace the insert, potentially allowing it to work with the existing keys. Users shared experiences regarding the costs of repairs, with some recommending local workshops over dealerships for more affordable solutions. It was noted that infrequent use of the key can lead to such issues, and regular use is advised to prevent future problems.
