    Good day.
I have a purely technical problem.
After the last frosts, trouble has become.
The car will stop at night and after firing it has no dipped headlights.
Interestingly, the board is lit, the lights on the back are ok, the blower is ok, wipers and all electrics ok
    Long ones work normally.
    Parking also ...
I drive for a while and suddenly the lights come on ...
Where to find trouble ... turning the switch, tapping, knocking, doesn't change anything ....
    It happened suddenly.
Interestingly, after leaving diagnostics (periodic inspection), I reached home, there were approx.
The car stood a few hours, and I was supposed to go to work for my wife and it sneezes ... no lights.
After driving about 1.5 km, the lights suddenly came on ...
then they work until the next morning ... so today the same lack of lights, after some 1.5-2km the lights suddenly turn on.
As soon as they turn on, they turn off, start the car, turn off the lights, nothing changes ... everything is ok.

There is no relay from the lights, I bet on a burned out long - short handle, the black and white wire from the light switch gives power to the long / short switch, from the yellow-green switch to fuses 20 and 21, from the yellow and yellow / black light fuses.

As far as I remember correctly, the dipped beam does not go through the lever ...
only long fires and it works fine.

    Welcome back.
    Trouble solved.
It turns out that the friend from whom the car was bought and "never buried".
He forgot to say that he himself made some combinations in the car and cut the wires at the light switch ...
then instead of soldering it he twisted it and wrapped it with tape ... the effect after 2 years the wires and ass rotten ...
Thank you for the hint with this switch, although it took the most time to dismantle it :D and here it turns out that it is enough to press and turn and the locks are released.
The diagram showed that there is nothing but fuses, a switch and light bulbs, but I asked because there is sometimes a connector hidden somewhere :D

In any case, thank you, the topic is finished

ps. it's a strange idea, by the way, that the contacts go directly to the long switch and for short ones, these are big currents ... why didn't they use a relay there?

In VAGs, the electrics have always been backward and thoughtlessly overcomplicated.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a technical issue with a Golf IV TDI where the dipped headlights fail to operate after frost conditions. The user reports that while the dashboard lights, rear lights, and other electrical components function normally, the dipped headlights only activate intermittently after driving a short distance. Various suggestions are made, including checking the relay, inspecting the light switch, and considering a burned-out long-short handle. Ultimately, the problem is traced back to damaged wiring at the light switch due to improper repairs by a previous owner. The user successfully resolves the issue by addressing the faulty connections.
