Hello. Gentlemen, I have a problem, I bought a golf IV and the interior lighting does not work when the door is open, nor does the trunk lighting. So I went through various forums and came across my problem, the zener diode was described there. So I pulled out the lamp in the driver's door and indeed there is something similar to this diode but the lamp was not connected at all. I plugged it in and it works, but only no other one still fires. I will add that the buzzer of lit lights after opening the door works. What could it be ? Comfort module ? I also noticed that in the second door lamp there is also a diode maybe it is broken? Where do you think where to start. greetings

And you don't have microswitches in the castle sometimes? They have always been getting cold solder, it's worth checking out.

The micro contacts are 100%, I will start with them to demolish all locks, check the purger meter and possibly re-iron. If this does not help, I will continue boring.

Gentlemen, so the microstick in the right door was broken, the complete lock was replaced with the original one, after this procedure another clutch in the right door lights up, i.e. the door lights are working, the buzzer IS (although sometimes the left door clutch and the buzzer do not work but after a few minutes everything returns to normal), so I checked the door grommets seem to be okay, the electrician in the door is also okay. Auto connected to vag-com showed 2 comfort errors no heating mirrors right side and error 00928 - Locking Module for Central locking; Front Driver Side (F220): Implausible Signal - intermittent. He gives up slowly with this car. I also noticed that the passenger compartment light is not receiving electricity. So what's next, disassemble the dashboard and look at the cables?

You must probably look at the floor covering under the driver's feet. There is a comfort module, cable bundles and ... water. Niamiec thought that the comfort module should lie in the lowest recess where water collects, such logic. Usually the connections rot, the wires are so thick (probably red or red with a stripe, in some place they split into several red (maybe 6-8), there it usually rots. You need to refresh and reconnect.

Warning, Post reported. Golf is not a Passat, there is no comfort module under the seat, or even more a rotting beam as in Passat. 3.1.11. Do not send messages that add nothing to the discussion. They are misleading, dangerous or do not solve the user's problem.

And sometimes the comfort module is above the passenger's feet?

I don't know about golf. Passat has a driver under his feet.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around an interior lighting issue in a Golf MKIV, where the interior and trunk lights do not activate when the doors are opened. The user initially identified a problem with a zener diode in the driver's door lamp, which was not connected but worked once plugged in. However, other lights remained non-functional. Suggestions included checking the microswitches in the door locks for cold solder issues, which the user confirmed were intact. After replacing the broken microswitch in the right door, some lights began to work, but intermittent issues persisted, including a malfunctioning passenger compartment light. The user also noted comfort module errors from a VAG-COM diagnostic, indicating potential wiring issues or water damage in the comfort module area, which is typically located under the driver's feet or above the passenger's feet. Further investigation into the wiring and connections is recommended.
