Hi. I have a rather unusual question and request. I have a problem with my mother who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, who leaves the house at random times of the day and is simply unable to return alone - you need to search literally throughout the city. I am thinking about a GPS locator for her. However, these devices that I found on the Polish market have, unfortunately, numerous disadvantages:
    - they look like devices for prisoners
    - they have an on / off switch (risk of turning off if mom decides to play with it)
    - they have the function of an SOS signal (risk of sending this signal by accident)
    - they have other functions I don't need, which makes the battery life poor
    - virtually all of them are constructed in such a way that they can be easily removed
    - most of them are just too big
    - there is no situation in which the locator is mounted e.g. in a jacket or purse - mother once takes the purse, sometimes not. Same with the jacket. Mom must always have it with her - whether she wants to do it, whether she will remember it or not.

In short, none of them are appropriate in this situation. I am looking for a device that will only send me feedback about the location if I need it (e.g. when my mother does not return from the walk for 3/4 hours) and will be small enough to be locked in something that it will at least resemble jewelry or a Xiaomi miBand bracelet and will not be easy to take off. Do you know something like this or would any of you be able to construct something like this on your order?

Several Polish distributors sell it. A few days ago I even held it:
    - easy to remove from the neck
    - low battery
    - has an on / off button

This is the band used by SW
The problem is difficult, the switch can certainly be removed from the circuit, you need to land or have a change, the same electronics can be built into something (e.g. shoes), but it will never be sure, the more that the mother will probably want to get rid of it.
Whenever you limit your search by 80%, it will be a success.

    The button can be deleted.

Or maybe a phone application running in the background?

I've already plowed through all the proposals given (except for the Keruve band, which looks best by the way, but still is not free from the disadvantages that I mentioned. And the price is cosmically deadly. In addition, the battery lasts 3.5 days) ... Whatever falls to the shoes, because recently my mother decided to take a walk in the flaps themselves. Once shoes, once flip-flops, once in a jacket, once without ... The application running in the background on the phone will also not burn, because my mother has already stopped carrying any purses / documents, etc. The more he will not take the phone. I also embraced for quadrupeds - most are too big.

What I came up with at the moment was to rework all my mom's trousers and sew in a special pocket for them: http://allegro.pl/mini-llokator-a8-podsluch-gsm-sim-i6755808331.html

Just tell me why such a price difference, because in various online stores the price of this locator can be up to 5x higher. Because it comes from China? It's a bit more expensive here than on Allegro, but still several times cheaper than in other stores https://www.fajnieitanio.pl/pl/p/L Lokator-GPS-Mini-A8/557 Is it coming from China?

This solution seems to be really the best, but it is also not perfect and generates high costs by having several such locators. However, if the price of one were around 6/7 data and if you do not have to wait for the shipment 2 months, it would be acceptable.

An even more interesting solution giving more possibilities is http://www.banggood.com/A9-Mini-Micro-GPS-Tra...en-Pet-Vehicle-with-Google-Maps-SOS-Alarm-GSM -GPRS-p-1066380.html but I can't find it at a reasonable price; /

You will need to regularly pull the locators out of these pockets and constantly load them. This will not be a convenient solution. Look for devices with a motion sensor. Lying quietly on the shelf, they draw very little electricity.
Cheap locators don't have GPS. They only provide the BTS station identifier with which the modem has been connected.

I have already made up with the need to charge every few days. Motion sensors have, for example, watches with locators, but here, unfortunately, there is a risk that mom will simply not want to wear it.

hmmm ... Here http://allegro.pl/mini-locsator-a8-podsluch-gsm-sim-i6755808331.html is clearly written "Mini A8 is GSM wiretapping with LBS / GSM localization function - It can provide current device position. "

Consider what is meant by "current position". Will the accuracy of 1km be sufficient?
You really need a device that draws a minimum current when it is in the mix and activates (turns on the GPS and modem) e.g. 1 hour after leaving it.

This will significantly reduce the area of possible searches but the fact is definitely not an ideal solution; /

And what do you think about such http://allegro.pl/mini-locsator-gps-dla-dziecka-lx500-3-kolory-i6600536420.html

Indeed, such a device was OK, however, the problem is that there is no such device as "hide" from my mother. Whether on the watch or in some pendant there is too much risk that he will simply take them off. Therefore, for me, the ideal device would be one that stays in sleep mode all the time and is activated only when I send a command to enter the current position.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around selecting an appropriate GPS locator for an Alzheimer’s patient, focusing on size, battery life, and design. The user expresses concerns about existing devices that resemble prison equipment, have on/off switches that could be accidentally activated, and possess unnecessary features that drain battery life. Suggestions include various GPS devices, such as the Mini A8 and Keruve band, but many have drawbacks like easy removal, short battery life, and size issues. The conversation highlights the need for a discreet, reliable device that can be integrated into clothing or footwear, with minimal user interaction required. The ideal solution would involve a device that remains in sleep mode and activates only upon request, ensuring the patient cannot easily remove it.
