Hello forum users. I have a Volvo V40 2016 car, and with it a small problem. Well, when trying to play a music track from USB or CD, the inscription "illegible path" pops up. I will add that many songs start correctly, and many don't. I compared both song files (correct and incorrect) and they do not differ in anything - neither the extension (.mp3), nor the size, what is more, they work properly in other cars. On the website I was told that they do not include the warranty and that it is the fault of the song. One friend with a similar problem said that it was enough for him to change the "rate" option on the computer to 230kbt / s using the program. Unfortunately, nothing came of it. What else can I do, or if this is the rate option, how do I configure it correctly?
    Thanks in advance

Have your friend find MediaInfo on the network and install it on your computer.
Then with this program it will check both the song played in the car and not played.
Please provide screenshots of this program from both songs.

Does the issue of using Polish letters in the file name matter?

As for Polish characters, I admit that at the beginning I thought so too, but both songs with and without Polish characters do not "walk".

It would be nice if a friend wrote which song is playing correctly and which song is not.
I bet this "Italiana Music" is not played correctly.
Please include one more set of screenshots of other songs in the same way as above.
    Only add that plays correctly.
I have some suspicions, but I would like to make sure.

As for the colleague's conclusion, he is quite right - in fact, "Italiana music" is not played. I upload more screenshots:

It is noticeable that those that do not reproduce are compressed at a variable speed of so-called VBR mode.
This can be seen in the "Overall bit rate mode" section.
I would suggest converting them to "Constant" mode.

Even when using FormatFactory, which seems to be using.
He would advise not to leave mp3 compression settings on "Automatic" in this program, but to set the same data as the file.
Leave the VBR parameter set to " none ".

That's it for now - let your friend try.

Thanks for the help, so far everything works, I close the thread, thanks again :)

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a music playback issue in a 2016 Volvo V40, where users encounter an "illegible path" error when attempting to play certain MP3 files from USB or CD. The original poster notes that some tracks play correctly while others do not, despite having the same file extension and size. Suggestions include using MediaInfo to analyze the problematic files, which revealed that non-playing tracks were compressed in Variable Bit Rate (VBR) mode. A solution proposed was to convert these files to Constant Bit Rate (CBR) mode using software like FormatFactory, ensuring that the compression settings match the original file specifications. The original poster confirmed that following this advice resolved the issue.
