Hello, I have a small request for a short but concrete comparison of these phones. Of course, I watched their specifications, movies, but I can not decide, and the evaluation of these phones is different on different pages. Maybe someone has used a longer time and can share an opinion.

Write what you expect from the phone and then you can suggest something.

First of all, reliability and speed of operation when installing a larger number of applications. The apparatus, for example, is a secondary matter.

So definitely J5 2017 because huawei are good only in dry data and when they are running they are far behind.
I used J5 2016 for some time and I did not have any objections to it and here in J5 2017 the parameters are even better.

Well, watching the review surprised me that Huawei has a better result in antutu than J5.

Well, somehow I'm not convinced Samsung. If S is cool, then J seems to me plastic and delicate.

And I've heard that they are trimmed versions and they break down quickly. You can always compare in comparisons and see how they differ mainly.

In Samsung AMOLEDs do the job but expensive in the event of an exchange. Personally, however, J5 ;)
and by the way ... such a Samsung Galaxy J5 and its other names J510F and J510FN used alternately at display sellers. Assuming buying a display described as J510F and mounting to J510FN, will I encounter startup or operation problems? Does it matter?

Amoled is a higher ride at all. It has always been known that the replacement of the display is a big cost and sometimes it was not worth it. But a good display is one thing, but the memory and the camera are also important. And here comparing the specifications in comparison engines can be helpful.

Definitely j5. It is true that the performance should theoretically lie on the huawei side, but the phone itself sharply cools down in the long run. As for Samsung - a metal housing, a great screen are the main advantages, I would personally include multimedia as well, the quality of sound on the headphones is quite good. On the loudspeaker - let's face it, it's a low-budget model, there's nothing to say about it. What p9 lite model do you speak about? 2016 or 2017?
In conclusion - from these two models I would take ... motorola moto g5s, but that's because a clean android is a good android (at least for me) :D

FAQ

TL;DR: For reliability and smoothness, choose Galaxy J5 2017. Statistic: 1 long‑term user reported "no objections" to J5 performance; another concluded "definitely J5 2017." [Elektroda, tino2003, post #16630881]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps shoppers who ask “which is best for everyday speed and durability?” make a confident pick without spec-chasing.

Quick Facts

Which is better for reliability and speed with many apps: Galaxy J5 2017 or Huawei P9 Lite?

Community feedback favors the Galaxy J5 2017 for day‑to‑day reliability and fluid performance. One contributor said Huawei looks good on paper but “falls behind when running,” then added “definitely J5 2017.” That aligns with the thread’s focus on smooth multitasking over raw specs. [Elektroda, tino2003, post #16630881]

Does the Galaxy J5 2017 have a metal body?

Yes. Participants confirm that starting with the 2017 refresh, Samsung’s J series switched to a metal casing. This improves hand feel and perceived durability compared with earlier plastic J models. It also helps the J5 2017 stand out against similarly priced plastic‑feeling phones. [Elektroda, windowisall, post #16954259]

Is the Huawei P9 Lite faster in benchmarks than the J5 2017?

A user noted the P9 Lite posted a better AnTuTu score than the J5 in reviews they watched. Benchmarks reflect synthetic performance, not always real‑world responsiveness. Treat them as one input, not the decision driver. [Elektroda, 19siwy20, post #16630897]

How durable do Samsung J phones feel day‑to‑day?

Opinions vary. One poster wasn’t convinced, calling the J line plastic and delicate compared to flagship S models. If durability matters, handle both in person and inspect frames, buttons, and screen reinforcement before buying. [Elektroda, myszka2508, post #16860524]

Are AMOLED screens great—and what happens if they break?

AMOLED gets praise for quality, but repairs can sting. As one member put it, “AMOLEDs do the job but [are] expensive in the event of an exchange.” Factor display replacement risk into your budget, especially on older phones. [Elektroda, shewaited8, post #16940168]

What do long‑term users report about the J5 series?

One long‑term user of the J5 2016 reported “no objections,” indicating stable day‑to‑day use. That experience shaped their preference for the improved J5 2017 model. This is a single‑user data point but useful context. [Elektroda, tino2003, post #16630881]

Which has better multimedia and audio: J5 2017 or P9 Lite?

A contributor highlighted the J5 2017’s great screen and called headphone audio “quite good,” while the loudspeaker remains entry‑level. Expect a solid media experience with headphones; don’t expect booming external audio. [Elektroda, windowisall, post #16952544]

Is the J5 2017 good value versus P9 Lite once repair costs are considered?

Consider total ownership cost. One user noted display replacements are costly and sometimes not worth it. Also weigh memory and camera needs using comparison engines, not just headline specs. [Elektroda, fallenang, post #16944998]

How do I choose between J5 2017 and P9 Lite in three steps?

  1. Rank priorities: reliability and speed with many apps were top needs here.
  2. Handle both phones; note build, screen, and comfort.
  3. Check repair pricing locally, especially displays, before deciding. [Elektroda, 19siwy20, post #16630862]

What is AnTuTu, and should it decide my purchase?

AnTuTu is a popular synthetic benchmark that estimates overall performance. In this thread, P9 Lite scored higher than J5 in some reviews. Still, users prioritized smooth operation and reliability over scores when choosing. [Elektroda, 19siwy20, post #16630897]

Can I swap Galaxy J5 displays labeled J510F and J510FN?

A member observed sellers using J510F and J510FN names interchangeably. Treat that as a warning, not a guarantee. Match part numbers, connectors, and frames before ordering, or you risk a non‑working display or touch. [Elektroda, shewaited8, post #16940168]

Any alternative phones suggested by participants?

Yes. One poster would pick Motorola Moto G5S instead, citing a preference for clean Android. Consider that if you value minimal software and timely feel over brand skins. [Elektroda, windowisall, post #16952544]

Does either phone throttle or slow down under sustained use?

A user felt P9 Lite performance looks strong on paper but “sharply cools down in the long run,” implying throttling under load. If you game or multitask heavily, test sustained performance before buying. [Elektroda, windowisall, post #16952544]

Are there risks with trimmed or regional variants?

One participant heard that trimmed versions “break down quickly.” Always verify the exact model, RAM/storage, and region code before purchase to avoid cut‑down hardware. [Elektroda, fallenang, post #16939769]
