I have a Huawei P9 lite (2017) and it is low on memory, hardly ever installed and takes up something.
Huawei P9 Lite (2017) Low Memory Issue: Increase Storage without Root or Moving Apps to SD Card
Is it possible to somehow increase the memory without rooting the phone and forcing you to move some applications to the SD card?

This is a deliberate policy of Google and the manufacturers. Memory is clogged up with all these updates. Applications require more and more space as well as increasingly powerful devices. You can take out a new phone from 2016 and try to download all the updates, if there is enough memory ... In the past you could try to transfer applications to the memory card, new phones do not have it anymore (except for Motorola and Nokia). For me, playing root is a short-term solution. Sooner or later, something will limit the functionality of the phone. This business just has to be "spinning". Consider writing a letter to Santa ;) .

You can always format the SD card to internal memory. I think it can be done in Huawei as well.

In old androids, when you entered settings> applications> after selecting the application, you selected the memory and there you could change either the device memory or the memory card.

I know this, so I have done with those that allow it

See what takes up so much space, recently my chrome cache was 4gb.

I have chrome turned off. Internal memory used 2.51MB, but maybe I'll do an overview of the rest.

So fast I have some apk holding 100-200MB internal.

There is almost nowhere such an option, neither in huawei nor in samsung or xiomi, almost everyone blocks.

    However, there is a brute-force solution https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/help/how-to-extend-storage-using-sd-card-t3614396

We enable adb via usb on the adb computer.

    The adb shell
    >> sm list-disks
We will read something like: disk:179,64

    >> sm set-force-adoptable true
    >> sm partition disk:179,64 private

The phone shows e.g. -6 GB on the sd card but it works :) .

If I do not know how to unscrew it :) .

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the low memory issue faced by users of the Huawei P9 Lite (2017). Users express concerns about insufficient storage due to application updates and cache data. Suggestions include formatting the SD card to function as internal storage, although this method may not be universally supported across all devices. A workaround using ADB commands to enable adoptable storage is also mentioned, allowing users to partition the SD card for additional space. Users are encouraged to check which applications consume the most memory, with specific mention of Chrome's cache taking up significant space.
