Hello, my name is Dawid - I am new and here is my problem.
the patient is my Vectra 1.9 CDTI, my problem is as follows, how our climate is different today on October 30, 2017 the temperature at night fell to 2-3 degrees (of course, when the heat starts from a kick) and there is a problem, I get into the car and put the key (on the board and the watch, I have the impression that everything is as if it was slowly displayed slightly hazy - strange impression) I turn and the vectra turns, turns as if it did not have that kick in it, I have to hold the key for 4-6 seconds after that you can hear it as if it had already catch (I keep the key) but she keeps spinning for 2 seconds and there is a shot, the car fires (a white cloud flies) then it goes very smoothly there are no vibrations miracle honey (the wagon heats up as it should), I can extinguish it and it will fire, I will add that it is standing from 5 to 5 o'clock then I go to work - I commute to work, 8 hours pass and I have to twist the same case, a white balloon is also flying when it fires until the end of the day, I can fire and fire it like crazy.
And now what I have mentioned - I replaced the battery in winter, of course (last year) Vectra fired beautifully but it was not a problem.
I also replaced the glow plugs (last winter) 4 Bosch pieces, the viki got an instant kick, it ran beautifully smoothly (those had to be finished) - the problem remained
I also reconditioned the famous STARTER - when I picked up the car from the mechanic, turning the key, I thought it was not my car, it turned so hard that I was scared that something was wrong :) ) -but this did not solve my problem .. (now I am starting to replace the fuel filter) my type is the fuel system, I think that I have the so-called `` fuel backing '' I would like to diagnose it, but I have original black wires, I can't see anything. I would like to replace the injection pump check valve (I do not know if it will help - please help) - I would also like to hear your opinion on the swap -> check valve will it do anything?
I am also thinking about visiting the computer to check if the temperature for candles is good, maybe this is the culprit. I would like to ask you for help with professional help

I will add that I have already read all possible topics, please do not send me back because I have not found help in any of them
I hope that someone else had such a problem and managed to fix it, it makes me terribly tired (the neighbor also has a Vectre at minus 15, he fires for the first and I get tired and I wonder if I will be able to fire! - massacre)

    BEST REGARDS :)

Before you start carving the fuel system, check how the pressure is built up on the cr rail during start-up, preferably with a diagnostic computer. I don't know which version of the engine you have, but I had a similar case in 1.9 cdti 16v 150ps, you had to spin longer in the cold, and after firing a bright smoke from the exhaust pipe, in this case the engine lost compression, 19 atm per cylinder, after machining the valve seats and replacing valves and their guides, the problem has been resolved. I am not saying that you have the heads to be repaired, but check the fuel pressure during the start-up, you can also give the self-start in the intake, if it catches right away, there is a fuel problem, if the auto-start flashes from work, measure the compression on a cold engine.

Buddy, Vectra 1.9cdTi 120 km I'm just going to go to the computer with her to check the candle heating, of course I will also check what you recommend to me. And I would like to add that I put the Vectre "downhill" the mask down, maybe it will show something with this fuel! PS. I will try to add a video of what it looks like tomorrow

Keeping your nose down is also a good way to check that there is no air in the fuel system.

I'll let you know in the morning how it all turned out, if that's what we'll do then what do you think about the injector fuel check valve could it have something to do with it? (screw with ball and spring inside)? Could it have something to do with this?

Hello, do not hesitate, just drive up and check the engine parameters, maybe there are some
    errors in the controller.

Also at this moment - the car was standing almost 15 hours - + 20 meters (up the hill), especially nose down, 9 hours was standing under a tilt, and I will say that I was surprised when it fired, although it was not a revelation, but it did not tire as always :) (I will add that the cloud did not fly)
A temperature sensor may be a high probability, tomorrow morning I will try to do a good job and check what came out (consultation with a mechanic) I will add that I have not made a lining for the computer, I will make sure

Added after 1 [hours] 24 [minutes]:

Edit: I changed the fuel filter (after a long time ...) I will add that it was dirty. + waiting for the morning I will check what and how with this sensor the same perfectly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBvJXfe81Pc May it be it!

also colleagues, the culprit was the coolant temperature sensor - (the sensor when it has a defect at low temperatures gives information that it is warm in the candles heat as if it was summer - positive temperatures.) after disconnecting the plug from the sensor, the computer gets immediate information about the frost and gives a higher temperature to the candles . I made an attempt after a stop of 24 hours 5 degrees disconnecting the plug from the sensor - the cart fired from the kick - zero white smoke from the pipe. We will also live now, let's see :)

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around starting issues with an Opel Vectra 1.9 CDTI in low temperatures. The owner experiences prolonged cranking and white smoke upon starting, particularly in colder conditions. Responses suggest checking fuel pressure, injector fuel check valves, and the coolant temperature sensor. A faulty coolant temperature sensor was identified as the culprit, causing incorrect readings that affected the glow plugs' operation. After disconnecting the sensor, the vehicle started more reliably without excessive smoke. The owner also replaced a dirty fuel filter, which may have contributed to the problem.
