Comparing Glue Guns: Topex 42E521 vs Steinel Gluematic 3002 - Price and Performance

strusio master 6807 19
Best answers

Should I buy a cheap Topex glue gun or spend more on a Steinel Gluematic 3002, and is the price difference worth it?

Yes — the Steinel Gluematic 3002 is the safer buy, and the thread strongly favors it over the cheap Topex. Steinel is praised for a simple PTC-heater design that keeps the glue at a stable temperature without a thermostat and heats up quickly [#17235507] Users report 20–25 years of use, with only a tip replacement needed, and say it still works even after being left on overnight [#16979075][#19771716][#16989023] By contrast, the Topex 20 PLN gun is described as poor plastic, prone to sticking, and not really usable unless it stays plugged in all the time [#16978885][#16988817] If you want something cheaper than Steinel, one reply suggests looking at Dedra DED7552, and another notes Bosch PKP 18E is essentially the same as the Steinel GM 3002 except for the housing and standard nozzle [#17235507]

    Hello
I am trying to buy a glue gun and I do not know if it makes sense to buy an expensive (PLN 100) e.g. Steinel Gluematic 3002 or better to spend PLN 20 on e.g. Topex 42E521 and not regret it if it breaks or sticks, I know from life that sometimes it does not pay off spend several times more $ for a supposedly better one, and you can't really see such a difference in operation.
I am waiting for your advice and opinions ;)

The power is Steinel and it holds for a long time after removing the plug from the socket, and Topex ... if you do not have it in the socket all the time, forget about gluing.

I have been using Steinel 3002 for about 20 years and apart from replacing the tip, because it was leaking, I couldn't fix anything else. That's why I recommend this type of device.

You advise the more expensive, I understand, but is there such a difference in working on the 4x cheaper? Or maybe some other gun is noteworthy. (This steinel was given as an example, although I read a lot about it).
I just want to buy the best gun for PLN 100 and I do not mean that it costs PLN 99. In this range I would like to fit it, it can be a pistol for PLN 50 but worth the price. (For example, the one for PLN 100 will be only slightly better)

Buddy, Steiner is a proven and reliable gun. Mine has been left open a few times overnight and works to this day. For PLN 89.00 + shipping you have a tool for years. And then it's hard to find something good at the price. Bosch green costs 119.00. And if you wish to spend that much, buy any. Rather, they are not much different.

    I would say 78 + shipment at www.tim.pl.

    Link with the price

Rather, there is nothing to wonder about. :)

In Castorama as much as PLN 108.

It is worth buying an additional one tip .

In this lidlowy you have a stand and 2 additional tips in the set. But you have to wait until it's in the store ;)

And do you remember how much?
Because I will look for it as it is in such a complete set. :-)

You praise lidle - I bought it 2 years ago. What a little shit - heats up for a long time (I didn't measure it, I compare it with some crap that strangely works for a long time), the fact - it does not leak from the nozzle because there are some balls and springs in them, but the glue is at the point of screwing the nozzle into the gun . I am already taking ... how to combine again with another gasket (copper, Teflon rubber or some other).
In addition, the power cord, as a little colder in the workshop, wants to let everything from the desk. The stand attached to the set is also of questionable usefulness.

So how with this lidl crap or wait? Do you know when he will show up?
Speaking of steiner, will it be better than a dremel? Dremels have only very good reviews.

Steinel has a big advantage - simple construction. Its heater has a positive temperature coefficient of resistance, that is, as it heats up, its power decreases. Thanks to this, without the need for a thermostat - be it mechanical or electronic, it is able to maintain a stable temperature of the glue, and at the same time warm up quickly after being turned on. Bosch PKP 18E and Steinel GM 3002 are the same, the only differences are the color of the housing and BOSCH has this extended nozzle as standard. If you want a little cheaper, look for Dedra DED7552.

I have had Steinel for 25 years. I have tested others a few times with my friends, but Steinel is incomparably better. It does not burn the glue, I have left it overnight a few times and also nothing happened, so the security is also good.

    Oops!
I already have Steinel and it works great ;) . But a similar Dedra broke traffic jams and did not want to advertise.

What good electronics and terrariums do you recommend?

FAQ

TL;DR: Forum users with up to 25 years of use call the Steinel Gluematic 3002 “incomparably better,” citing safer heating and reliability. [Elektroda, arturio111, post #19771716]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps hobbyists and fixers choose a dependable hot‑glue gun under a tight budget and avoid false economies.

Quick Facts

What’s the best glue gun under about PLN 100 from this thread?

Consensus favors the Steinel Gluematic 3002. One user found it at ~PLN 78 online and ~PLN 108 retail, then said there’s “nothing to wonder about.” Add the long tip for finer work if needed. [Elektroda, tomiok, post #17005539]

Is Steinel really better than a cheap Topex 42E521?

Yes. A user noted Steinel holds heat and works after unplugging. The Topex needs to stay powered or it won’t glue effectively. This impacts convenience and consistency during repairs. [Elektroda, djpeterek, post #16978885]

How long can a Steinel 3002 last in real use?

One owner reports 25 years of service, with safe overnight idling and no glue burning. Their verdict: “incomparably better.” That longevity makes the higher upfront cost worthwhile. [Elektroda, arturio111, post #19771716]

Is Bosch PKP 18E actually the same tool as Steinel GM 3002?

A contributor explained they’re effectively the same platform. Differences are mainly housing color and Bosch including an extended nozzle by default. [Elektroda, tzok, post #17235507]

What does a PTC heater mean in a glue gun?

PTC means Positive Temperature Coefficient. As temperature rises, heater resistance increases, passively reducing power. The gun maintains stable glue temperature without a mechanical or electronic thermostat, and warms quickly. [Elektroda, tzok, post #17235507]

Are Lidl Parkside glue guns a good budget pick?

Mixed. One user praised the bundled stand and tips, but another reported slow warm‑up, seepage at the nozzle threads, and a stiff cord in cold shops. Consider these trade‑offs. [Elektroda, belfegor1988, post #17012735]

Do Parkside kits include accessories, and how is availability?

A forum member noted Parkside kits often include a stand and two extra tips. Availability is periodic; you must wait for store offers. [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #17006082]

Does the Steinel 3002 keep working after I unplug it?

Yes. A user highlighted that Steinel retains usable heat after unplugging, which helps when moving between workpieces or outlets. [Elektroda, djpeterek, post #16978885]

Can I safely leave a Steinel 3002 on for long sessions?

One owner left the gun on overnight several times without issues or burnt glue. They also praised its safety. Still, supervise heated tools. [Elektroda, arturio111, post #19771716]

What nozzle or tip should I add for precision work?

An extended long tip is a popular upgrade for the GM 3002. It improves reach and dot‑size control for electronics and crafts. [Elektroda, tomiok, post #17005539]

Any known failure or edge‑case issues to watch for?

A Parkside owner reported glue seeping at the nozzle screw joint and a very stiff power cord in cold rooms. Inspect seals and consider gaskets if needed. [Elektroda, belfegor1988, post #17012735]

How do I fix minor glue seepage at the nozzle threads?

  1. Cool and unplug the gun fully.
  2. Remove the nozzle, clean threads, and inspect the gasket.
  3. Refit or replace the seal (e.g., copper or PTFE) and snug the nozzle. “Balls and springs” in the tip can help stop drips, but thread seals matter. [Elektroda, belfegor1988, post #17012735]

How fast does the Steinel 3002 heat up?

A contributor credited its PTC heater for fast warm‑up and stable temperature without thermostats. This design reduces overshoot and burn risk. [Elektroda, tzok, post #17235507]

What’s the stated glue flow rate for the GM 3002?

The retailer page linked in‑thread lists approximately 16–20 g/min. That suits general repairs and small assemblies. [Elektroda, tomiok, post #17005539]

Is Dremel a better choice than Steinel?

A user asked this and noted positive Dremel reviews, but the thread lacks direct comparisons. The prevailing feedback still endorses Steinel. [Elektroda, pierotez, post #17230155]
