    Hello
    I have the following problem with A3 8l 2000:
On the meter, the green indicator light from the dipped / position lights comes on, even though the light switch is in the off position, with the ignition off, the same light is on when the engine is running, the yellow check engine light also lights up and does not go out. I immediately say that there are no errors in the engine controller or Instruments. Both of these lights came on at the same time. The green goes out only when the key is removed from the ignition switch and goes out after about 15-20 seconds.
I was at the mechanic and claims that the reason for this condition is probably something wrong with the meter or the lack of some mass somewhere.

    My Counter is VDO 8l0920931m
I have the opportunity to buy 8L0920931HX or 8L0920931F only if one will fit?

A fairly simple matter for a car electrician.
From memory - lights pin 17 in T32 (blue) and CEL pin 14 in T32a (green).
Diagnose the cause of the fault, then repair / replace. This is the correct and only order.

You could brighten me up a little. So these pins from these cubes would decrease for a while and see what happens in the meter (the lights would go out after unplugging the pins from these cubes)?

Yes. I will check later and confirm if it is these pins and what should be given to ignite / extinguish.

ok I'll wait. How would you describe what and how to check it so I would diagnose it myself.

So, as I wrote, the GOAL is pin 14 in T32a (green), it lights up as you enter GDN, i.e. after unplugging the plug, it should go out, if it does not go out, then something in the meter.
Pin 17 on T32 is long, so that's not it. Check this GOAL first.

I found such cube diagrams from the counter: check to 14 pin in the green cube, and which pin is from the green position / dipped beam indicator?

I also found the pinology from these position lights except that from passat and there it is written that pin 3 in the green cube T32b only is it the same in a3?

Is it better to remove the meter from the car and connect only the plus after the ignition switch (15), fixed plus (30) and weight (31)?
Then you will see if the indicator light lights up due to a problem in the meter or a problem in the installation of the car.
These two 58d is terminals or pins 26, 27 of the blue plug can light the light indicator.
You can also remove the switch from the lights but this will only rule out or indicate his guilt.
Here CHECK is rather controlled by CAN but I can be wrong.
It will shine even when the meter is powered outside the car (when you connect only the pluses and mass).

I turned off the light switch but the green light was still on.
There is a CAN bus. As once the meter was connected on the table, the check light was on. and the light control is not. the picture was taken a few months ago

After inserting the meter into the car, the check went out for a few months (it was working properly), but the indicator light was still on as it was at the moment.

How to understand? where can the problem be? At the time, the electronics said there might be a problem somewhere in the car's installation, lack of weight or something similar?

This is not a problem of mass but the emerging plus.
So now disconnecting these 4 terminals about which I wrote and looking when I guess and then search in the car if the indicator on the table is not lit.
Maybe you have something with a hook connector.

    I don't have a hook.
    Summarizing:
Green indicator light - how do I unplug these 58d terminals or pins 26, 27 of the blue plug and the indicator goes out, the problem is somewhere in the car's installation, and if it doesn't go out, the problem lies in the meter?
A Check engine - yellow indicator - when I put out pin 14 from the green cube and the indicator goes out, the problem will be in the car or meter installation because there is CAN.
Should voltage appear on pin 14 after switching on the voltage?
    How to solve it?

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a problem with the Audi A3 8L (2000 model) where the green indicator light for dipped/position lights remains illuminated even when the light switch is off, and the yellow check engine light is also on. The user reports no errors in the engine controller or instruments. Responses suggest diagnosing the issue by checking specific pins in the T32 and T32a connectors related to the meter and indicator lights. It is recommended to disconnect certain pins to determine if the problem lies within the meter or the vehicle's wiring. The presence of a CAN bus system complicates the diagnosis, indicating potential issues with the vehicle's installation rather than just the meter itself. The user is considering replacing the meter with compatible models (8L0920931HX or 8L0920931F) if necessary.
