    Hello,
I have an iPhone 5 (model A1429). I have a phone call from my late dad. Despite several attempts to enter the pin, I was unable to unlock the phone and locked up so that it has an inscription to connect to iTunes and unlock.

Unfortunately, it will not do anything because I do not know the password, login, etc.

I read on the internet that I can restore my phone to factory settings and it will be unlocked, but it is for me and my family to check the content of my father's phone, i.e. photos and recent contacts.

The question is, are there any ways to unlock the phone but without losing data?

ps I note that the phone has no blocked IMEI or has been reported stolen! This is my deceased father's phone!

It seems to me that only Apple branches allow anything, I would rather think about whether such access will be, because there may be a problem with the privacy policy. I know that for privacy in Apple you can be calm, but about your ...

From what I read, even the FBI in the US had a problem getting access to the iPhone in a criminal case, so this official road is probably pointless.

That's why I'm just looking for solutions / programs that break a password or give access to content.

I had a similar case with a client some time ago, her father died and the company went over to her. In iphonie, he had all diary records and contacts with clients, they went to the apple point and refused her, despite the fact that she had a death certificate, and all necessary papers ...

I bought one in the UK iphon 6 with a damaged battery (supposedly). After exchanging and charging, the phone works, but with an icloud lock. Contact with the seller is impossible and unlocking all the more. Apparently ios9 could get around but above is not possible.

As I write, check similar terms from other accounts, ask for a reminder via SMS, or check saved passwords from Firefox if you used. On kali linux you have a cupper program, nice to create specific possible passwords, and then brutal force post or something else. The only string is the similarity of passwords, maybe also on the laptop has saved passwords to onet @ or other sites like sympathy or other (look in the history of the search engine), and access to a computer protected by a password, as if it was ..., please ;) xD

If you can not log into icloud, there is no workaround.

Apple will unlock the phone if you provide proof of purchase. Of course, all data will be deleted.

There are different methods for stealing data, you have already managed to reach different models, it all depends on the version of the system. I will write honestly that I have already carried out such situations, when the access had to be carried out with the third hand, if it succeeded nobody would know .... It all depends on whether the phone was updated, as it is a five, it can 'do something' but I have not tried to block it from iTunes. But as I wrote earlier, the easiest way will be to break the password to the Father's post, from there you will find other passwords, it is possible that it has one universal, this method is the simplest in this case.

I think brute force + mail on which the apple id is going to do the trick

@klarus, yes, it works because it's just a "restore" function available in iTunes, for free. The application simply uploads the whole new soft data reset. Do not believe in such magical programs that you will remove the code from the iPhone, keeping the data or the other that is supposedly able to recover the deleted data from the phone. It is usual "sciema".

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around unlocking an iPhone 5 (model A1429) without losing data, following the user's inability to access the device due to a forgotten password. Various responses highlight the challenges of accessing locked iPhones, emphasizing Apple's strict privacy policies and the difficulty even law enforcement faces in similar situations. Suggestions include checking for associated email accounts for password recovery, using brute force methods, and exploring third-party software solutions like Tenorshare 4uKey. However, many participants caution that most methods will result in data loss, particularly if factory settings are restored. The consensus indicates that without the iCloud password or access to the associated Apple ID, unlocking the device while preserving data is highly unlikely.

FAQ

TL;DR: 256-bit AES encryption and passcode-tied keys mean "Data Protection is built into iOS"—no passcode, no data. To use the phone again, erase-and-restore from backups; families can pursue Activation Lock removal with proof of purchase. [Apple Platform Security]

Why it matters: It steers you away from dead-ends and toward safe, supported recovery paths.

Quick Facts

  • On‑device data is AES‑256 encrypted; the passcode gates the decryption keys. [Apple Platform Security]
  • Forgot your passcode? You must erase the iPhone, then restore from a backup. [If you forgot your iPhone passcode]
  • Apple can remove Activation Lock if you provide valid proof of purchase. [How to remove Activation Lock]
  • iPhone 5 (A1429) maxes out at iOS 10.3.4; no later iOS upgrades. [About iOS 10.3.4]
  • Third‑party “unlockers” just restore firmware and erase local data. [Elektroda, blahfff, post #17234686]

How do I unlock an iPhone 5 A1429 without losing data?

You can’t unlock and keep on‑device data without the passcode. Apple states, "If you forgot your passcode, you’ll need to erase your iPhone." After erasing, you can restore from an iCloud or computer backup. Without a backup or iCloud data, the device’s contents remain inaccessible. [If you forgot your iPhone passcode]

What can Apple do for next of kin to access a deceased persons data?

If the owner set up Digital Legacy, you can request access to their iCloud data. Apple will verify the death certificate and the Legacy Contact access key or required legal documents. This process concerns account data, not bypassing a device passcode. [Request access to a deceased persons Apple account]

Will Apple unlock my iPhone with a death certificate and proof of purchase?

Apple can remove Activation Lock if you submit valid proof of purchase. This lets you set up the iPhone after an erase. It does not provide the forgotten passcode or recover on‑device data. [How to remove Activation Lock]

Is there any workaround if I cant sign in to iCloud?

Community consensus here is that no workaround exists without iCloud access. Focus on locating computer backups or purchase records for Apple Support. Avoid tools that claim to keep data while removing a passcode. [Elektroda, psine.pl, post #17183501]

Do tools like Tenorshare 4uKey unlock without data loss?

They reset the phone by performing a restore, which erases local data. This mirrors the free restore function in iTunes or Finder. These tools do not decrypt or preserve your existing content. [Elektroda, blahfff, post #17234686]

What happens after too many wrong passcode attempts?

If the Erase Data option is enabled, the iPhone wipes itself after 10 failed attempts. That is a full erase of local content. Afterward, only iCloud data or prior backups can be used. [Use a passcode with your iPhone]

Can brute force or hacking unlock my passcode?

No. iPhone encryption keys are tied to the passcode and device hardware. The security architecture blocks scalable brute force. Access requires the correct passcode or erasing the device. [Apple Platform Security]

How can I access photos and contacts via iCloud without the phone?

Use iCloud.com if you know the Apple ID. 1. Go to iCloud.com and sign in. 2. Open Photos and Contacts to view synced content. 3. Download photos or export contacts as needed. Content appears only if sync was enabled. [What you can do with iCloud.com]

How do I check if a computer has an iPhone backup?

Look for local backups from iTunes or Finder. 1. On Mac, open Finder/iTunes > Settings/Preferences > Devices. 2. Control‑click a backup and choose Show in Finder. 3. On Windows, check %AppData%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup. [Locate backups of your iPhone]

Whats the difference between a passcode lock and Activation Lock?

The passcode unlocks the screen and protects encrypted local data. Activation Lock, tied to Find My, links the device to an Apple ID. After an erase, you must enter that Apple ID to activate. These are separate protections. [About Activation Lock]

What documents does Apple require to remove Activation Lock?

Provide a valid proof of purchase showing the device serial number or IMEI and your ownership. If you can’t turn off Activation Lock yourself, submit this to Apple Support to request removal. [How to remove Activation Lock]

Apple refused to unlock even with a death certificate2why?

A user here reports Apple refused despite a death certificate and papers. Apple’s privacy and security policies limit device access without passcode or proper proof. Expect to provide proof of purchase or use Digital Legacy for account data. [Elektroda, KRY5PIN, post #17183274]

Should I try old iOS 9 lock‑screen bypass tricks I saw online?

No. Those were temporary lock‑screen glitches and did not decrypt user data. Reports in this thread note such bypasses don’t apply beyond iOS 9. iPhone 5 commonly runs 10.3.4, where they are fixed. [Elektroda, nici, post #17183307]

How do I erase and restore an iPhone 5 to use it again?

Follow Apple’s restore process. 1. Put the iPhone in recovery mode and connect to a computer. 2. In Finder/iTunes, choose Restore to reinstall iOS. 3. After setup, restore from iCloud or a computer backup. This removes the passcode by erasing data. [If you forgot your iPhone passcode]
