Hello, I am asking for advice. I have a VW golf 4 14 16v AXP 2001 engine. The Energy check indicator appeared to me.
The first replacement diagnosis of the lambda courts.
The second diagnosis is EGR replacement.
The mechanic stated after the test that the exhaust emissions were too high. But the engine is working properly, it does not cut, it does not go out, the revs are correct, everything would be ok if it was not for the light. After removing the error, it turned on after 130 km, after the next removal after 70 km. Someone has encountered such a problem. The mechanic suggested cleaning the catalytic converter but it did not help.

The indicator really just informs that the engine controller is not able to keep the exhaust gases normal :-)
What about this mix? Too poor, too rich? What specific error? Do you have LPG?

He did not give me the error code. But allegedly, I quote the mechanic, "too high exhaust emissions," as the reason after replacing the lambda and the EGR said that the catalyst should be cleaned. And the indicator light continues to appear.

Could it be the second probe after the catalyst? At least the mechanic would recognize it in the error code? I definitely have to change the mechanic because this one has now added costs and zero effects.

Hello, today I visited a new mechanic, two errors popped up 16785 18010. Anyone have ideas for the reason?

Added after 1 [hours] 44 [minutes]:

Error 18010 may be because I deleted the error by disconnecting the minus from the battery and hence this error.

    Added after 1 [minutes]:

I am more puzzled by error 16785 because egr is a new new lambda probe .. Someone encountered this problem

I left the car with a mechanic today, maybe he will find the reason. The Egr was set up last week, the new one is working fine and still the bug pops up. The mechanic claims that the problem is in the collectors. I'll find out tomorrow because he's supposed to check it out.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a 2001 VW Golf 4 with a 1.4 16v AXP engine, experiencing an Energy Check light activation despite recent replacements of the lambda sensor and EGR valve. The mechanic indicated high exhaust emissions but did not provide specific error codes. Users suggested potential issues with the catalytic converter and the second lambda probe. After visiting a new mechanic, error codes 16785 and 18010 were identified, with the latter possibly being a result of disconnecting the battery. The EGR valve was confirmed to be functioning, and further investigation into the intake manifold was recommended.
