    Good day.
I undertook to repair the bathroom scale. It did not turn on even after replacing the battery with a new one. When opened, something is simply missing at first glance. You can see cut cables. But what is missing?

This balance's manual refers to a weight unit selector. He is not visible in the photo. Perhaps these are the cables going to him?

There is a letter marking above these cables, but it is hard to see here. Something like CA or GA. Wipe this area and see more closely. Perhaps this will be a clue.

I think it says "CML" but I'm not sure. C is greater than ML. The unit selector is that black button. It is directly soldered to the entire circuit and there is no place for the cables to detach.

At first I thought that this visible button was some kind of reset. I didn't go through the instructions carefully and now I can see my oversight. However, I will ask otherwise, namely how did it happen that these cables are cut off? If nobody has opened the scales before, maybe the manufacturer has already cut something off. If, on the other hand, someone was already rummaging around there and stated that he could not fix it, he cut something off ... that could be useful to him.

To start the scale, you must first stand on it. Is not it obvious. You have replaced the battery with a new one. Now check if there is 3V voltage on the board at the battery connection points (+ and -). If not, remove the battery and clean the contacts.

Honestly, I just found this weight and used recycling to reduce the production of electro-waste and at the same time save on the purchase of equipment. That's why I have no idea what is missing, but these cables clearly look cut off. I thought maybe someone had seen a similar inside of a scale and would know what was not there.

Check with the meter that you have a voltage of 3V on the PCB, because it is important. It is a black and red cable from the left just above the C10 capacitor (marked - and +). It often happens that when the battery remains in the device for too long, the contacts tarnish or corrode. When you have the voltage I am writing about, the contacts are not corroded.

Unfortunately, I do not have the meter with me. I'll have access to it on Tuesday next week. I'll get in touch then. Thanks for the help. Best regards.

I have the same weight, but a newer type of pcb. 2011-10-22 XY-3077-U4.0.
I don't have any additional pins or leads. There are 4 sensors, 3 wires for each sensor, plus plus and minus battery power. SENCOR SBS111. Measure the voltage on the VDD pin should be around 3V. After pressing the function button, the scale also starts up. It would be good to measure what voltage appears on these cut wires, maybe it was the lead of the led? Hard to say.

maybe it was the led output?

The manual does not mention any led indicator or display backlight. Either way, the scale should launch.

I found a picture of a different weight plate on the net. There are no additional cables there, except for the sensors (three each) and two for power supply.

I checked the soldering on the power cables. One of the cables seemed to be loose. I tweaked the soldering and the weight works. It turns on and weighs. Thanks for the help. Apparently, the cut wires are irrelevant.

Earlier, I noticed in this enlarged photo of mine that the red cable in particular seems to be poorly soldered. Therefore, I asked you to check the voltage on the PCB soldering points. Most importantly, you figured it out yourself and improved your soldering.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the SENCOR SBS111 bathroom scale that failed to turn on despite a new battery being installed. The user discovered cut cables inside the device and sought assistance in identifying missing components. Responses highlighted the importance of checking voltage at the battery connection points and the possibility of loose soldering on power cables. One user noted that the scale requires standing on it to activate, while another suggested that the cut wires might not be critical. Ultimately, the user resolved the issue by re-soldering a loose cable, confirming that the cut wires were irrelevant to the scale's functionality.
