    Hello
    Electrolux ESL4200LO dishwasher
    TYPE: GHE423DA2
    PNC 911 079 008 00

My dishwasher after 4 years of use began to pour water into the tray during washing. The protection has been activated - water draining + sound signal, switching off is possible only after removing the cable from the contact.

After reading the forum, I dried the tray and started cleaning - at the beginning the longest program with the highest temperature + soda and vinegar. Unfortunately, the problem persisted, so I unscrewed the housing again, cleaned the tray, water jacket and took out the hydrostat. When disassembling the hydrostat, a lot of dirt poured out, cleaned the residue and twisted everything again.

After connecting the dishwasher and starting, unfortunately, the dishwasher does not start, "beeps" 4 times and at the same time the "exit" LED (> |) flashes and for some time approx. 30 sec. the water pump is running. I read on the forum that with such operations you need to perform a reset and calibration, unfortunately, all the instructions I found apply to dishwashers that have several buttons - mine has only two (switch and program selection).

This is what the control panel looks like:

I will add that I tried to reset by holding the "P" button for 3s :) Does anyone know how to do reset and calibration on a two button dishwasher?

    i40 is a hydrostat problem.

    1. Zeroing
    2. Turn off the dishwasher.
    3. Press and hold the S1 button while turning on the dishwasher. Keep the program button pressed until:
    - the L1 indicator starts flashing, the L2 and L3 indicators light up;
    - service mode will be activated.
    4. Release the S1 button.

Unfortunately, the procedure outlined above does nothing.

After passing through all the points, all the lights come on - that is, as it was when the dishwasher was turned on when it was operational, you can choose the program but nothing else happens.

It is either doing something wrong or you have damaged software or other element in the dishwasher.

Maybe this is the break I am doing wrong? What do you mean by zeroing?
    edit:

    However, fixed!
I did probably the stupidest thing I could and after cleaning the hydrostat, I plugged the plug inaccurately ... There was no power and it was beating on the hydrostat. Today, I unscrewed the dishwasher again, plugged in the plug (checked 3 times) and started washing, and as of now it works, and from what I see in the dishwasher there is half the water ...

    Thanks for the help!

I have the same dishwasher, only under the IKEA HJALPSAM brand. I had the same failure. Quite quickly I was able to determine that the cause of the failure is a clogged hydrostat. After cleaning it, I had peace of mind using the dishwasher for the next few years. I just noticed the connection of the wires to the hydrostat myself. As you can see in the example above, this is essential. Generally, it is not necessary to unscrew it to clean the hydrostat. Just unblock the hole leading to it. That's what I did on my second crash. I cleared the channel leading to the hydrostat with a syringe with water and a hose. It was enough to clean the access to the hydrostat in this way. The dishwasher works for years. :)

Hi. Go to the topic I set up. There is a photo of the hydrostat there and the hole that leads to it. Just use a syringe with a thin hose to flush this hole well to unblock the water supply to the hydrostat. After this operation, you will still need to remove the water from the tray placed under the dishwasher, as it will continue to short-circuit the contacts blocking the operation of the dishwasher. After these procedures you should have peace of mind for a few years. I've probably restored the dishwasher to operation two or three times this way. Let me know if I have helped?

Topic summary

The Electrolux ESL4200LO dishwasher experienced an i40 error after cleaning the hydrostat, leading to water accumulation in the tray and activation of the protection system. The user attempted to resolve the issue by cleaning the tray and hydrostat, but the dishwasher failed to start, emitting four beeps and flashing the "exit" LED. After following a suggested reset procedure, which initially did not work, the user discovered that the problem was due to an improperly connected plug after cleaning. Once the plug was correctly reconnected, the dishwasher resumed normal operation. Another user with a similar model under the IKEA brand confirmed that a clogged hydrostat was the cause of their issues and recommended cleaning the access channel to the hydrostat without disassembling it.
