    Hello!

As there was a damaged driver's speaker in my car the other day I decided to replace it, in fact both sides. The new speakers are very good Sonys, which I had installed earlier in the old car and I had just two left. After removing the speakers, unfortunately I didn't mark the cables for myself (they are just colored, without any marks) and I removed the original plugs so unfortunately I was no longer able to determine where the plus and minus is. I connected the cables to the speakers recalling more or less which side of the plug each was on. Unfortunately, the effect is not good, because the new speakers lost bass, which I guess is the result of a bad connection. I set the bass very high on the radio and the original speakers, which are placed in the rear, give it back very nicely, while the front, unfortunately, only treble and there is virtually no bass. My question is simple, I would like to pull out these new speakers and check with a meter where the plus and minus is, the problem is that this topic is totally foreign to me. I would ask for help on how I should set up the meter and how I can check the poles. Thank you in advance for your help :) !

Any bacteria or cell such as a 9V battery. When the battery is connected, the diaphragms of all speakers must swing to the same side. Speakers that are connected in counter-phase lose bass.

It's not quite possible to understand, are you looking for the plus on the cable, or are you looking for the plus on the speaker?
When it comes to the cables, just look at the back of the radio and see what color wire comes out of point 3, and 4 for the front pluses (3 - plus right, 5 plus left),
when it comes to the speaker, just touch a battery to its contacts for a moment, it can be a finger or other, if the diaphragm swings forward, that is, towards the listener, the plus of the battery indicates the plus of the speaker, if the diaphragm moves backwards it is the opposite. However, I don't think that miswiring so completely cancels out the bass.

    On the cable.

Bass is as good as it gets, but tragic compared to the original speakers in the back, which are much worse than the new ones.

I will at most look at the back of the radio, I was going to plug in the aux cable anyway so it will work out for one thing.

Remember contact B3, and B5, are the pluses of the front speakers sequentially work and left do not confuse the sides.

As above plus and minus I checked after pulling out the radio. As it turned out, the driver's side speaker was wired the other way around, and the passenger side speaker was fine. After the correct connection, the bass is there, and it's sensational :D The speakers play much better, and in addition, using the pulled out radio I pulled myself an AUX cable, so the benefits themselves! Thanks for your help, I consider the topic closed.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the installation of new Sony speakers in a car, where the user faced issues identifying the positive and negative connections after removing the original speakers. The user initially connected the wires incorrectly, resulting in poor bass performance. Responses provided methods to determine the correct wiring, including using a 9V battery to test speaker polarity and checking the wiring at the back of the radio. Ultimately, the user confirmed that the driver's side speaker was wired incorrectly, and after correcting the connections, the bass performance improved significantly.
