Huawei Mate 10 Lite adroid update - pictures have disappeared

After upgrading to adroid 8, all photos and videos disappeared. Ie. it seems to me that this happened after the update, because I did the update 2 days ago and today I noticed that there are no photos, only those taken today. In the options I have set that they are to automatically save to the sd card and judging by the size of the free space they must be there, but after connecting the tel to the computer in the file folder you can not see them, there are only those from today. After connecting to the computer, I also don't see mp3 on the sd card, but the phone can see
Anyone had a similar problem? And most importantly, how to recover photos, a week ago I came back from vacation and I haven't downloaded the photos to my computer yet.

If in Windows you can see a folder with a strange name with the sign "$" then something fell apart. I don't know much about these IT aspects, but I connected such a "damaged" card to the computer via a USB adapter and that was the folder that was visible. However, I was surprised that connecting the card after Linux did not cause this problem. Pictures were visible. I copied and I have them. Out of curiosity I started off the elevator and using the data recovery program I also succeeded, although it took quite a long time. I always remove the card during such updates.
