    Hello,
I looked for a similar problem on the forum but to no avail.
So the problem is that on my SMART TV LG 47LB650V-ZN suddenly something happened to the YouTube application - the image disappeared. Yesterday everything was ok and today my daughter wanted to watch cartoons and while starting the application a black screen appeared, after a while I pressed "blindly" OK and only the sound appeared.
In general, when starting the application, the word YouTube with the logo should appear for a short time and this sometimes appears (and then disappears and there is a black screen) and sometimes not. If it appears, it is displayed about 2-3 times longer than usual as if it had some problems with starting.
The patent with the phone did not even help, i.e. turning on the YouTube video on the phone and clicking the button in the upper right corner and launching the film on the TV application - the effect is the same, the sound is there, the image is missing.

I deleted cookies in the TV settings.
I removed the YouTube application itself and reinstalled it, but to no avail.

TV software version 05.05.35 (I checked on the internet that there is a new version 05.05.70 and my tv model is on the list, but the tv itself is not updated)
The version of the YouTube application that has been installed is 1.0.70

I will add that I checked on the second JVC smart TV (bought in 2018) and it works without a problem there.

Has anyone encountered this type of problem and can share the solution? Any suggestions or hints are welcome.
Thank you in advance for your help!!

I am still thinking, maybe try to update the TV soft via a USB flash drive ?? Maybe updating to a higher software will help? Since there is information on the LG website that the latest version 05.05.70 is compatible with my TV model? But why the tv itself does not find an update? On the other hand, are such operations (updating via pendrive) safe? Are there any risks associated with this?

I have exactly the same symptoms. I haven't found a solution, but I'm working on it as far as the time available. LG Polska Support is not responding.
It follows that upgrading to 5/5.70 is unlikely to help.

And you see, you have 05.05.70 and the same problem, so one thing has already been clarified - software update will not help.
I also thought to contact LG support for help. Oh, I feel that this is a rough issue ...

I called LG support and heard that now the offices are closed even though they should work Mon-Fri 8-20, Sat 10-18
    Number 801 54 54 54
There was a possibility to record a message, so I recorded myself and we'll see if they call back.

They called me back from LG, I set my DNS to 9.9.9.9 but unfortunately nothing helped. They suggest contacting YouTube support but I can't find any contact form ...

My father (LG 49LF631V) has the same problem since uploading this patch. Some rusek on YT has the same problem (user ??????? ?????? ;) - I can't stick the link because I'm new.

Someone (YarsGames user, post from three hours ago) in the comments in radioactive language writes that it helped to return to the factory settings. Someone tried? With such a restoration, something needs to be logged, installed (because I did not do it, and a nice cabaret can come out on the phone with my father)?

On LG WEBOS (Youtube update, app stopped working) a similar tip:

"Factory reset and youtube reinstall fixed the problem."

In my and probably many other cases, there was no software update.
Cramp, it's hard to find without a line.
I wrote to youtube support and am waiting for an answer. If there is silence, I will probably actually return to the factory settings of the TV.

It was a self-updating of Jutub, no question, at least in my father's case. Go to LG custom support on tv and see when you have YT updates. In the father's case it is update 1.0.70 on March 16.

Well, I can't paste the links, because then my post would be displayed only tomorrow.

in fact for me it is exactly the same. I will try the factory settings tomorrow.

We are not alone with this problem. Below are links to posts on YouTube website:

I suggest pressing the button ME ALSO then they see the scale of the problem and additionally SUBSCRIBE - then there will be notifications about a new entry.

They write that the factory reset helps, but on condition that you can block the yt update. Because otherwise, after restarting the TV, it is the same.

Hmmm ... weird. Today it started working for me. I didn't do anything, maybe yt fixed something. Check at your place.

And it works for me without any action on my part. YT knocked something down and you can see he unscrewed it.

I also have a problem with yt on lg. As I typed in Google, it's just a white image and the yt logo. I installed yt on tv and everything works on the app. And Google still nothing.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around a common issue experienced by users of the LG 47LB650V-ZN Smart TV, where the YouTube app displays a black screen with audio only. Users report that the problem arose suddenly, with the app functioning normally the previous day. Various troubleshooting steps are suggested, including updating the TV's software via USB, resetting the TV to factory settings, and checking for YouTube app updates. Some users found temporary resolutions, while others noted that the issue persisted despite attempts to contact LG support. Ultimately, several users reported that the problem resolved itself, possibly due to a patch from YouTube.

FAQ

TL;DR: After the YouTube app auto‑updated to 1.0.70 on March 16, some LG TVs showed audio‑only black screens; "Today it started working for me." Temporary workaround: factory reset + reinstall while blocking auto‑update; it later worked again without user action for some. [Elektroda, wybryk100, post #18540844]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps owners fix or understand YouTube audio‑only black‑screen issues on LG webOS and similar smart TVs.

Quick Facts

What triggered the YouTube black screen with audio on my LG TV?

Reports indicate the YouTube app auto‑updated to version 1.0.70 on March 16, after which video failed while audio played. One user confirmed, “It was a self‑updating” event and noted the version/date under LG’s Custom Support update history. [Elektroda, lwiel10, post #18540299]

Will updating LG firmware (e.g., 05.05.70) fix this YouTube issue?

No. An owner on firmware 05.05.70 reported the same symptoms and wrote, “upgrading to 5/5.70 is unlikely to help.” The failure is tied to the app/service rather than TV firmware. [Elektroda, Ymer, post #18539307]

Should I install the LG firmware by USB to solve it?

It isn’t necessary for this issue. A user noted another TV already on 05.05.70 still had the problem, concluding a TV firmware update would not help here. [Elektroda, wybryk100, post #18539318]

Does changing DNS to 9.9.9.9 fix the black screen?

No. After speaking with LG, a user set DNS to 9.9.9.9 and reported “nothing helped.” This points back to the YouTube app/service layer. [Elektroda, wybryk100, post #18539318]

What quick workaround can I try right now?

Factory reset the TV, reinstall YouTube, and prevent the app from auto‑updating. Users noted the reset “helps” but the issue returns if updates re‑apply. Blocking updates is key for this workaround. [Elektroda, wybryk100, post #18540844]

Did the issue resolve without me doing anything?

Yes, some users saw normal video return without changes on their side. One wrote it “works for me without any action on my part,” implying a server‑side correction. [Elektroda, Ymer, post #18542800]

Does this affect Samsung TVs like the UE55H6400AK?

Yes. A Samsung UE55H6400AK owner reported the exact same symptom: black screen with audio after the YouTube app started. [Elektroda, wars85, post #18538923]

How do I check YouTube’s update history on my LG TV?

Use LG’s Custom Support to view the app’s update log.
  1. Open LG Custom Support on your TV.
  2. Open the App/YouTube updates section.
  3. Confirm the version/date (e.g., 1.0.70 on March 16). [Elektroda, lwiel10, post #18540299]

Why does the YouTube logo stay longer (2–3×) and then video stays black?

That behavior matches the reported startup failure pattern. The app logo sometimes shows longer than usual, then the screen goes black while audio continues. [Elektroda, wybryk100, post #18538731]

Casting from my phone still yields a black screen—why?

Casting hands off playback to the TV’s YouTube app. If that app is failing, casting won’t restore video. One user confirmed audio plays but the image remains missing. [Elektroda, wybryk100, post #18538731]

Can resetting only the YouTube app (not the whole TV) help on Samsung?

Yes. A Samsung owner reported that resetting the YouTube application restored normal playback on their set. [Elektroda, lukaszpajak89, post #19203321]

My LG browser shows a white page with the YouTube logo, but the app works—what should I use?

Use the YouTube app. One LG user saw only a white page with the logo in the browser, but the installed YouTube app played videos normally. [Elektroda, Neo0510, post #18604728]

If I factory‑reset, will the problem come back after updates?

It can. Users noted the reset helps, but once YouTube auto‑updates again, the black‑screen behavior returns unless updates are blocked. [Elektroda, wybryk100, post #18540844]

Who should I contact—LG or YouTube?

LG advised one user to contact YouTube. They tried network changes without success. The issue later cleared without user intervention, suggesting a YouTube‑side fix. [Elektroda, wybryk100, post #18539318]
