Metro Clock Striking Incorrect Full Hours: Strikes Once at 23 & 13 Times at 15 - DIY Adjustment? Metro Clock Striking Incorrect Full Hours: Strikes Once at 23 & 13 Times at 15 - DIY Adjustment?
The clock strikes the hours incorrectly. For example, at 23 o'clock it strikes once. At 15 o'clock it will strike 13 times. He'll be able to adjust it himself. I will add that it strikes every other hour, it strikes only odd numbers. Thank you in advance

In my opinion, the hands were removed and put on incorrectly, which is why a "time shift" was created. The simplest way is when the clock strikes the wrong time - identify what time it struck. Then stop the clock (pendulum), remove the hands and set them to what time it struck. Then start the clock and set the correct time, that's roughly it.

Some mechanical clocks had such an additional lever. After each stroke by the user, the clock went through another beating cycle, until finally the beating and the time were synchronized with each other. I don't know where the lever is on this clock, but it should be. There is no such additional flap on the side?

The problem probably came from the fact that the clock spring was wound up and the striking spring was not. In this way, the beating "was left behind" and time moved forward.

And why is this happening? The above hints do not apply to this fault.

If possible, take the mechanism out of the housing, take photos of the back and two sides (as accurate as possible) and maybe something will be able to suggest (I also have a Metron and not only). Metro Clock Striking Incorrect Full Hours: Strikes Once at 23 & 13 Times at 15 - DIY Adjustment?

Everything can be done by yourself, the question is whether it is worth spending so much time to find out the reasons. Even though I used to work as a mechanic of precision machines, even with a watch bracelet I go to a watchmaker now. They are mostly pensioners, their services are cheap and there is no point in me making any effort.
And you as you wish, although I once spent a lot of time to fix a similar clock with a similar fault. And I fixed it, but now it stands and collects dust, because it would have to be - as someone noticed - regularly wound up. And no one wants to remember that these days

    I also recommend the watchmaker.
Interestingly, I know the story of a very similar clock bought from a Russian one moments after the war for a bottle, very similar, only the housing is different.
I wonder if it's the same production continued. Because that one, as far as I know, still works today.

These clocks became out of sync even when the clock was running without winding the strike spring. I think it's enough to stop the beating spring and set the correct time.

Dude, don't overdo it. Nothing in the mechanics will synchronize itself. In clocks, depending on the mechanism for selecting the amount of beating, there are levers to set the amount of beating. This is the one on my Metron on the right side. It is a lever Metro Clock Striking Incorrect Full Hours: Strikes Once at 23 & 13 Times at 15 - DIY Adjustment? to trigger a beating without moving the hands.

Following the instructions above solved the problem.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a mechanical clock that strikes the wrong number of times at specific hours, such as striking once at 23:00 and 13 times at 15:00. Users suggest that the issue may stem from the clock hands being incorrectly positioned, leading to a time shift. Solutions include stopping the pendulum, adjusting the hands to match the struck hour, and then resetting the correct time. Some responses mention the possibility of a lever for synchronizing the striking mechanism, while others recommend consulting a watchmaker for repairs. The problem may also arise from the striking spring not being wound properly, causing a desynchronization between the clock's timekeeping and striking functions. Ultimately, the original poster confirmed that following the provided instructions resolved the issue.
