microcontroller source codes

I am a b.tech final year student. I am doing my accadamic mini project in the title of
"AUTOMATIC SYNCHRONIZATION UNIT FOR THE PARALLEL OPERATION OF SYNCHRONOUS
GENERATORS"
an ieee paper of year 2009.
i feel difficulties in understanding the source codes of microcontrollers.
please help me in both the hard ware setup and source codes. i am using pic 16f877A.

Your best bet would be to Basic. There are numerous Basic for PIC options out there. Since I don't use Basic, I can't vouch for any of them, but some of them are either free or have a free trial version. So, Google away and test away.

And, perhaps someone else on this Forum will have suggestions.

Then, get cracking and when you run into difficulties, ask about those. You're more likely to get help with specific questions, rather than on something a broad as: "Tell me how to write firmware."

You might also consider switching over to an arduino development board - they offer a c-like syntax that is easy to learn and there are tons of people willing to help you out in the arduino forums.
