About Image Processing

I have been trying to know why eigen values are used in the filters used in image processing but I couldn't get to the correct answer. so I need help in this. please let me know why eigen values are used for this purpose instead of normal values. thanks in advance

What specific image filtering method are you referring to?

For noise suppression and image enhancement, the most common image filtering techniques are Gaussian smoothing, median filters, mode filters, and rank and order filters. Eigen values are not utilized in these operations.

In my experience Eigen values and Eigenvectors are utilized more in the shape recognition and pattern recognition aspects of image processing.
