Yes, more clarity is required:
1. By "identify" do you mean actually determine what kind of animal it is by temperature?
2. During the day? At night? Both?
3. Or are you using the word "identify" incorrectly and what you really mean is determine the _presence_ of an animal. And if so, you probably mean _warm blooded_ animals, right?
4. And do you want to distinguish between animals and humans?
5. And will it be necessary to distinguish between "animals" and other things that might pass in front of the sensor that are not of the living but emit IR of a similar pattern, such as objects heated by the sun that just happen to roll by, or the engine compartment of a car, or a gob of fresh poop flung through the air by a clever chimp, etc.
