I want to make an oscillator circuit, but from the tutorials which I have been reading, it was made clear that I would be needing mutually coupled coils.....

I do not know if It would be possible to use a transformer (12v or any other) as the coil.....
And if I can't i would like to know why.............
And i would like to also know the solution to it i..e If i cant use the transformer ...

Google COLPITTS Ocsillator - this uses what is refered to as a tapped capacitor. All you need then is a inductor to finish the resonant tank circuit.

What type of oscillator? Is this going to be used in a project requiring high voltages? Are you making a coilgun? What type of output from the oscillator do you need? Square, Triangle, Ramp, Sine, etc.? Also, what frequency are you looking for?
