Basic Circuit Board Design

Hi All,

After a world of experience in the Biotech Field (something like over 80+ countries), computing with Linux was my Hobby. Backing up to what I know, after a lot of Googling I ended here. I am now interested in Circuit Boards.

Does anyone have a basic Circuit Board book around, or a link to go to that would lead me to where I could get this stuff? So simplistc I could just built a radio receiver?

Another possibility is DipTrace:
* Free version available
* More closely follows "CUI" [Common User Interface" -- in other words, the look-and-feel is more like other, common, windows applications, whereas Eagle CAD uses the established "CAD Interface" paradigm (which is very different). I used to use Eagle Cad, but because my usage was infrequent, I had to re-learn how to use it, each time -- so I switched to Dip Trace because I can get back up to speed far more quickly.
* BUT, Eagle CAD is more _feature rich_. But for a simple circuit board, you probably won't even notice the difference.
* AND, there is that EXCELLENT tutorial by SparkFun, which is how I learned Eagle CAD.
* BUT, DipTrace comes with a tutorial which is also excellent, and easier to get through, because Dip Trace is so much like a _regular_ Windows program.

Yeah, or kicad (free software)

I get a "504 Gateway Timeout" error when I try to go to the URL offered by Google (searched on "kicad"). But, there _were_ some problems on the Internet when I tried:

Yep, their website seems to be down today. Kicad is included in several linux repositories, the windows version is also available thought softonic (but be careful to unselect any unwanted toolbars etc. while installing) http://kicad.en.softonic.com/
