Hello,
i have to design MDB for a 200 KW 3-phase system.there i will use 5 busbars three for phases and one for neutral and another for earthing.kindly tell me what is the proper equation to measure rectangular busbar size?how to measure current carrying capacity of a rectangular busbar?

also tell me how to measure current carrying capacity of a copper rod to use in ground earthing system?

looking for your help...

Lets assume 415 Volts and power factor 0.8
so current will be
I=200,000/1.73*415*0.8

348 Amp

Lets Divide it by two and we shall get 174. so we need bus bar with the size of 174 or greater area.Take 20x5 mm2 area bus bar which is more then enough for this MDB.

why should i divide it by two?in three phase it should be three.am i right?

if busbar width 20mm and thickness 5 mm.then how much current it will carry?what is the equation?

it is a thumb rule that you have to divide the total single phase current to measure the area of cu busbar. the maximum Amp rating of 20x5 mm2 busbar is 200A.
