Hi,

Hi I'm a real noob when it comes to electronics, I hope you can help me :)

So my question is, can a phone battery (more specifically a smartphone's) give power to a device that is asking for like 9 V, 4.2 Ah?

Hi Rukia,

Yes, you can use the phone battery as the power of another device.

In fact, I've been using my old phone battery as the supply of my portable mini speaker.

It saves a lot of money and more durable than an ordinary AA or AAA battery.

As Neil said, yes.
It is likely to be a Lithium rechargeable(around 4 volts), which requires a special charger, if it is out of the phone you will have to build or acquire one. You may also need a switch mode power supply to step the lower voltage up to the higher voltage you require. These can often be bought as demo units, which have the functionality to set the output voltage you require,
