I’m using an omni-polar Hall Effects sensor (Honeywell SS461) to count tips in a tipping bucket rain gauge – it works fine but I get occasional false readings, showing up to ten tips per minute when I know there were none. Does anyone have suggestions on how to stop this? I have a 0.22 µF filter capacitor between power and ground and a 1k ohm pull up resistor between power and signal. The cable length from the sensor to the data logger (a Raspberry Pi) is only about 4 feet.
