Need advice re: my dad’s EE Magazines from 1939-1990’s +

My father was an EE. He worked for Detroit Edison and subsequently at the DOE. He retired in 1992 and died at age 93 in 2012. He saved every issue of EE magazine from 1939-1990's. He also has every issue of Power Apparatus and Systems from 1960's - 1990's, IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, and a raft of other engineering periodicals. My mother needs to dispose of them. Do these have any value to anyone, either individuals or institutions? I am loathe to throw them in the recycle bin. 

I appreciate this question might not be appropriate to ask here,  but am desperate for some guidance on what to do 

with them.  Any input will be greatly appreciated!

You could always opt in donating them to the nearest library for archives. It might sound odd but it seems outdated in some sense.

Kevin, thanks for taking the time to reply. I realize that in many respects they are certainly outdated, but I was wondering if they would have historical value to anyone. The ads from the earlier issues are pretty cool just in themselves.
