How to Simulate Development Boards, ESC, and Motors in CircuitLab Without Exact Parts

Hello,

I have been trying to get my head around circuit simulators and how to use them.

The circuit I am building is made up of Development boards, an electric speed control and a motor.

All of these parts arent on CircuitLab and all of the tutorials I have seen seem to use resistors as electrical components.

Should I use a resistor to simulate my development boards, ESC and motor?

Please give as much help as you can, I'm a product designer and my experties are in a very different field.

To simulate the circuit, it is as described, the circuit will need to be recreated in the simulator, exactly as per your development boards, electric speed control etc.

I have only used analog components such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, op-amps, switches etc., so i expect you will have other components not in the simulator library such as a motor.

There are other simulations that can be implemented - such as control engineering simulations in Matlab, but i think this will be a steep learning curve for you - turning the theoretical algorithms into code etc.

Apologies that this is not much help - but to simulate the circuits etc., you will have to recreate the circuit exactly.

You are starting to find out just how limiting simulators can be, and it is not possible to create an exact model, just something approaching it.
Just about any mechanical or electro mechanical system may be modeled to some extent, it just depends on how may of the parameters can be extracted from the real world device to create the model. Additionally, most behaviours are non-lnear, which adds a further layer of complexity.
If you have specific needs re simulators, do a search on "simulator or behavioural models for .......",
and you should come up with some useful material.
Look at these links for some very simple models of DC motors and ancillary parts, albeit for spice, but it gives some idea.
