Should I Tell My Professor About Another Local EE Internship Opportunity Before Committing?

Hello,
--About meI'm a non traditional student in my senior year for a BS in EE and I work in a non EE related field. I have no prior internship experience --A friend is leaving his internship position and suggested my name and said I'd be a good person for the position. Then a week later my professor asked me to email him my CV and transcript for a different internship. They are both in town and both seem to be looking to hire after graduation.The place my friend is at has scheduled an interview we me.No offer has be made yet.

In answer to your question,  you should talk to the professor before making a commitment to the other position but only after you have had an interview (and hopefully an offer). The best situation would be to have interviews at both companies. Any offer in hand is always better than none and you can tell the one making the offer that you need a day to make a decision.

Since you mentioned that both companies seem to be looking to hire after graduation, I would recommend that you check them out thoroughly to see what one you would prefer to work for. Things to check include the type of projects that they have but also the company culture.

I would recommend that you take an internship if offered even if it is not at the preferred company since that will provide valuable experience for you.

Like your decision about the internship is right, If you want to do internship then you have to contact to a company they will take your interview after that they will decide to take you or not on your knowledge basis. I have also completed my internship after completing my graduation from top engineering colleges in Nagpur. You can also complete your internship during your classes, but for that, you have to take permission from your college.
