Difference Between LT1763IS8-2.5#PBF and LT1763IS8#PBF in PCB Design

Hi,
I am in a little trouble right now. The thing is I recently designed a PCB for a customer and I accidentally used a different part number instead of the original one. I used "LT1763IS8-2.5#PBF" instead of "LT1763IS8#PBF" and the board is already in fabrication. Could anyone please tell me if this is a major problem or we can let this slip? I need to be sure before escalating this problem.

The difference is that the part you used is a fixed 2.5V output where the one you should have use is an adjustable output.
If you put the resistors for the resistor divider to the adj/sense pin then you are OK, otherwise you have a problem...

what kind of a problem we are talking here? Like the one in which the board burns up? or the one in which replacing the part might solve this problem? The circuit has voltage divider placed at the adj pin BTW.

Is there any other alternative?

Hi Waleed-Elizabeth is correct, but the good news is that the LT1763IS8#PBF (adjustable voltage) in an 8-pin SOIC package will almost always have an external resistive divider connected to the ADJ (or in this case, the SENSE) pin. The fixed voltage version (LT1763IS8-2.5#PBF) has a 2.5 volt internal reference where the adjustable version has an internal 1.22 volt reference, so it **MAY** be possible to adjust the ratio of the two resistors to get the intended output voltage.    -Rick

Replacing the part should solve the problem. As to the board burning up, it depends on what the regulator puts out as opposed to what it's supposed to. You might over-voltage some of the other parts on the board and burn them out so be careful.
