Supply voltage and input voltages are two different entity. The supply voltage will always mean the voltage which is available commonly for all appliances, instruments or machines. This is the voltage at which we receive power from the utility i.e. power supplier. Like in Kolkata, CESC supplies all domestic consumers power at 240V and all high tension Industrial consumers at 6kV. So, 240V and 6kV are the supply voltages. The input voltage will mean the voltage which is available at the terminal of any instrument, gadget, machinery, circuit, etc. Like a 415V motor connected through a cable. The supply voltage from the transformer is 415V but because of capacitive voltage drop due to cable, the voltage at the motor terminal may be 410V. Thus the input voltage to the motor will be 410V and supply voltage is 415V.Ekeeda - Instrumentation Engineering Online Courses and Videos
