I am looking for the firmware file (PANA_DVD.FRM) for a DMR-EX99VEG. This is the model for Europe with both digital and analogue tuners. The Panasonic firmware website only contains the firmware for the UK model (DMR-EX99VEB), which is not suitable.
The firmware is needed when replacing the HDD. I asked Panasonic Support, but they say they don't have this firmware.
AI: Do you still have access to the original HDD or any backup files from the DMR-EX99V EG that might contain the firmware?
Yes, but that would require cloning the complete HDD. I want to be able to use smaller HDDs (successfully tested with other DMR models).
AI: Have you tried using the UK (DMR-EX99V EB) firmware, and if so, what specific issues or error messages did you encounter?
Panasonic Support confirmed that the UK firmware is not suitable

And why do you need it? Do you have a 'Load FVU' message?

The firmware is necessary when you want to use a new HDD. The process is described in the Service Manual under "Note 3" on Page 57: ("Main firmware is recorded in HDD, but new HDD has no data.")

It's true, Panasonic have made these procedures so complicated that you put in a new disc and it doesn't work, and they won't even ask you to help with the software, the software on the disc is actually only for the freeview tuner, where in the UK at one time the headsets were UHF only. But there are ways around this, you don't write if you have a message or if you just want to replace the drive....

The HDD is still OK, and the machine is working. I already have a clone disc which also works. But I want to be able to use smaller discs (which are less noisy), and therefore I need the firmware. I already did this with a DMR-EH575. The original 160 GB disc vibrates and is too loud. I now use a Samsung SV0802N, which is very silent.
I only use these machines for digitizing VHS tapes. The HDD is already outside the case. I connect it to my PC and rip the recordings with IsoBuster. In the meantime, I can continue recording on another HDD.
