Does anyone know what can be done to fill a defect in a ceramic plate so that the restoration is durable and unobtrusive? The plate crumbled after being hit from the side with a heavy pot. Loss, fortunately, the loss is not large, but sharp, the Mastercook plate.

it is best to make a plate with stainless steel if it is a corner of the plate, such a triangle. it will be such a decorative bayer :) you just need to shape it nicely, because there is no other advice. if you grind the sharp edge of the plate with a diamond file, you will have frosted glass and it will not look elegant. glass water, even when it hardens, the interference in this defect will be visible. unless you burn yourself with hydrofluoric acid, this place in some es-flores. to buy this acid, unfortunately, you need to have a special permit :(

This cavity is on one side of the plate (not at the corner). The board has polished edges, if there was a frame, it could be supplemented with, for example, a black flag joint for tiles (glaze). Only about 4x2mm crushed from the top of the plate, while from the bottom of the plate it crumbled wider (as it happens with glass) and this is where the "blade" was formed. That is why I wonder about this water glass, will it harden enough to be durable and what to dye it with, because the plate is black. The fact that it will be matt does not bother me, because you will not see much from the top and the new album costs 1000 PLN.

    Hello
There is a special high temperature silicone for ovens (black), after drying it is quite hard, maybe it would do.

The plate does not heat up in this place, so the restoration does not have to be resistant to high temperatures, but it has to bond firmly to the glass.

Best epidiam. You can buy in small tubes. You can also color by mixing with powder paint. Take a piece of glass larger than the hole, stick a piece of foil (the one used for packing cheese) and press it to the plate from the outside. with foil and there is no hole.

In such cases, the problem lies in the different thermal expansion of the glue and glass, if the glue is flexible enough, it will stay, if the glue is stiff and has a different expansion than glass, it has no force sooner or later to let go.
Roughen the surface of the glass to improve adhesion with whatever you stick to. Epidian is good but will tarnish over time.
