I know there are cases where people report the problem of washing machine water smells ...
Most often, when a washing machine starts to work, it first releases the water and the remains "pound" as if from a septic tank ....
I once bought such a washing machine from a customer and noticed that large amounts of powder (because my wife gives a lot of washing powder) "cleaned" the remains of dirty sediment that was deposited on the drain hose and the remaining water in it stinks and stinks in a specific way ...
After about half a year, the washing machine stopped stinking, which made me happy
this process can be accelerated by the use of professional descaling agents from time to time
    greetings.

I am wondering about a similar story of a friend.
2.5-year-old washing machine (5 months after the warranty - immediately after the warranty, the drain hose was replaced with a new one, because it was not possible to put in the laundry, because it smells like this). It was good for two months on the new hose. It is washed daily on average. The hose is hanging on the tub, so it is not allowed to drag anything from the sewage system. Water is not likely to be squeezed within 24 hours. The laundry is taken out immediately and you do not feel anything after washing.
So where does this smell come from? I would understand if some rags, mops were washed (as is sometimes the case in laundries, supermarkets) and they would lie for a few days.

Although the washing machine "thoroughly" pumps the water at the end of the wash cycle, a small amount of water (often with rinse aid residues and abrasion residue) remains in the washing machine's tubing, most often in the pump filter. The problem may decrease when we wash at higher temperatures, because then some of the germs that could multiply there die. After all, it is possible to clean and check the pump filter (unscrewing it causes drainage of residual water). Maybe it is worth doing it more often?

Or maybe it's just a problem with some models or that the door / lid is closing.
Personally, I have an old Polar, I do the washing max 3 times a week, more often at 30-40 ° C, and it has never smelled like anything from the inside. Of course, I don't close the door.

There is always a certain amount of water left in the drain hose between the pump and the highest point of the hose. After pumping out, the water from the hose flows through the pump (the pump impeller is standing) to the filter housing, connecting pipes and possibly the interior of the boiler. This water can only be removed by opening the filter, but the inside will always remain damp and covered with washing residues, and it will be sticky. I always leave the washing machine open, but occasionally I smell a specific smell and have no simple remedy for it

It is said that it helps to dilute the rinse aid, rather than pouring it concentrated into the dispenser.

Or maybe just pour a little detergent after washing?

I have never done this in any washing machine. But maybe it's a question of drying the washing machine after washing.

Current detergents are easily biodegradable and they can contribute to the growth of bacteria because they are a good medium for them.

I had a similar problem some time ago, and the clothes were messy, I read somewhere on the net how to get rid of it, so you have to run the washing machine with only the powder without clothes and set it to cooking, in addition, remove the detergent and rinse aid drawer and scrub it thoroughly e.g. domestosem and also scrub the place (hole) where the drawer is inserted. As my previous speaker mentioned, bacteria that feed on powders are growing there, it has helped me, and this activity must be repeated from time to time.

    Regards.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the issue of unpleasant odors emanating from washing machine water, often likened to a septic tank smell. Users share experiences and potential solutions, noting that residual water and detergent buildup in hoses and filters can contribute to the problem. Recommendations include washing at higher temperatures, regularly cleaning the pump filter, and ensuring proper drying of the machine by leaving the door open. Some users suggest using diluted rinse aids and running the machine empty with detergent to eliminate odors. The conversation highlights the importance of maintenance to prevent bacterial growth from biodegradable detergents.
