Hello, I'm sorry for the lame question, but I heard that if the refrigerator was previously used, it should not be disconnected from the power supply because it may damage and it would work better even if it is empty. Is it true? Since I got a pretty cool refrigerator from a friend, but I don't have to use it (at the end of the summer I'm moving in "on my own"), is it better to plug it in during this time or nothing will happen to it if it remains so constant?

I don't know myself, but I can tell you that the freezer has been turned off for about 8 months, just as I thought it might have been damaged, I connected it and it's freezing as needed :)

cooling equipment should not be turned off for longer periods of time, because the oil mist that circulates along with the refrigerant will fall on the walls of the cooling system and effectively clog the capillary, then you need to open the system, blow and recharge with gas and it costs differently in different regions of Poland
If you turn on the fridge or freezer for 24 hours once every 3 months, I think that nothing will happen to it .....

This was the answer I needed, specific and explaining what could possibly happen. Thank you very much, I will turn on the refrigerator once a month as a precaution

In my experience, I know that refrigeration equipment should not be shut down for long periods of time because
during operation, the entire system is lubricated with oil which circulates with the refrigerant to form an anti-corrosion coating.
The main reason why a device does not cool is almost always the lack of gas

From the last news - I turned it on after about 2 months and it cooled down beautifully, it turned off and in general. After another 1.5 months, I turned it on again and unfortunately the chiller was working all the time, the refrigerator was cooling down. I called a friend of a household appliances mechanic and he said that it would be a thermostat, removed it and checked it at his workshop (by connecting it to his refrigerator) and after a few days he came with a new one, since then the refrigerator works. I close the topic
